Ruan later broke his silence on the situation on Instagram. New episodes of "Below Deck Mediterranean" air Monday at 9 PM on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.

The coincidences were amazing. Questioned about being a fake and next day his best friend dies. Hiding his face as he pretend cries to someone he conned. Crying with no tears to the camera. When he said he dropped out at 16, I got a weird feeling. I'm South African and when you're in 16 years old, your probably in Grade 10 ( depends if you've failed a grade or two). But it made me wonder if he passed his Matric (Grade 12, also the minimum qualification for quite alot of courses/college/university) Maybe I'm reading into this too much but 😅 I believe his lying

He said 50 metres and Luka said 100 metres which was the correct answer. If you have been a Bosun for 3 years or better yet working in the yachting industry for 8 years. You would know that without any hesitation. That is a huge red flag that he never went to school. He probably did since then. He never said when he sent a video showing the proper copies. Was it months later? Also, when she asked him where did he go to school or did he go to school. He fumbled on his answers.

I think it’s strange that they just found out of the 11th hour right before they were about to leave on their first charter that this guy didn’t have the correct documentation. I feel like bravo vets their cast and crew thoroughly and this just seemed odd. Maybe it was for a storyline. Have you seen the statement that he gave? He explained what happened and noel has all of the documentation needed. It’s hard for me to speculate on the 50 m versus 100 m thing as I have nothing to compare it to I have never seen her ask that before, and I’ve never seen any other captain ask that question before. Like I want to see what Jaoa (Jwow?) and Nico and Kelly and all the other bosuns would answer.@@demijour1234

You would know the answer to that even if it was years ago without fumbling. Plus, when Captain Sandy asked him and the Deck Crew how far the distance was between the Ship and the Barge. He got it completely wrong. Ruan said 50 metres and right away he could hear Luka say No. The other deckhand said 75 metres and Luka said 100 metres. Big difference between 50 and 100 metres and working as Bosun for 3 years, you would never get that one wrong or better yet working in the yachting industry for 8 years. Big Red Flags. 🟥🟥🟥

When Ruan asked for the group to meet him on deck for a group meeting. Captain Sandy said she wanted to come as well. When she was there, she asked each of the crew (first Ruan, of course) what the distance was from the Ship to the Barge. When he said 50 metres, right away you can hear Luka say, No. The other deckhand said, 75 metres and Luka said 100 metres. He was the only one that got it right. There is a big difference btw 50 metres and 100 metres. If he is so experienced, working as a Bosun for 3 years, that kind of mistake should never happen. So, do I think he is still lying? Yeah, I do. Not saying he is lying about his friend dying. How come he never told Captain Sandy about it? And we all know that this was filmed a year ago, that is nothing new. He could have gotten certified since then. If you are in the Yachting industry, there is no such thing as getting a license quickly. You know the protocol of how to do it correctly. There were other Red Flags too. When Captain Sandy asked where did you go to school. He fumbled on his answer and when Captain Sandy said there was no school in Monaco. She caught him lying. He tried to find a quick way to get a license maybe for the show and he got caught.

He responded with a "yeah, yeah, yeah" to Sandy's skill question, nodded 'no' while claiming to be "taking things seriously", was overly hostile when he entered the room with sandy and other 2 professionals, mentioned having a 'dry' mouth (typical for liers) He claimed to copied his documents at the "police station" and nodded 'no' when he said he can try to get them sent. He was unfamiliar with protocols, especially when Sandy tested his skills. From that point on, whenever asked about the missing documents, he fumbled and concocted stories. He also lacked transparency about the situation with the yacht crew. It was evident he was a fraud trying to cover it up. Sandy did great getting him off the yacht and testing him

It's really unprofessional to have the crew arrive within enough time before the charter. Like a day or two ahead of time. Plus they always have one day to get the boat ready for charter and its a hectic race to get things done. Wouldn't you give them more time to prepare so the clients have the best charter possible.

You have to go to classes not just be on the boat to get your license. Also, why didn't he ever say his friend's name? Your friend since you were little kids and you don't tell us his name?
