Belts and braces are the two ways to keep your trousers up and remain decent. Which is best, and in what circumstances?

In hungarian we call it "the mason's cleavege" and I think this phrase is priceless :))

@@kovarilaszlo3146 That's really great. I now want to find out its name in other languages. Thanks for that.

I’m going to get a couple of suits altered for braces. It really is a beautiful look.

Braces are great. Can't really comment on suspenders...

It seems like the older I get the higher the trousers go. It is just more comfortable.

Since the 2000s are back in style i think we're seeing more a comeback of very lowwaisted trousers. But since trends are more and more short lived i dont think this will stay for very long. And it is something i definitely see more on teens.

I prefered dungarees at work as they are much more confortable to work with but unfortunately they are no longer provided by my company so I have to readjust my trousers all the time again -_-
@warmbrucuriosity21 күн бұрын
I agree, dungarees are the best option for working.

Those pants that hang so low the wearer has to keep pulling them up are still a thing in North London unfortunately. When my kids were little they called them Poop Pants because they make you look like you had a toilet accident in them.

Poop pants! 😂Fantastic!

If I see someone wearing belt and braces I am always a leery about them. What are they so worried about? If you’re wearing a massive toolbelt or something like that, that’s a different story but just to go outside doubling up to keep your pants up it’s crazy work.

Never have had a problem with being pantsed. That's what we call it in America when your britches are too low. Worked as a mover for 30 years. Wore the usual low-cut trousers with various belts throughout the years. Had 2 inch thick leather belts and various 'web' belts. Found a nice Cub Scout web belt discarded on the road one day, and it served me for 20 years of my mover's career. Had a nice brass fastening fixture on it, with the Cub Scout logo stamped in it, and the "Wo He Lo" slogan as well (work, health, love). Suspenders are a good idea, but they look awfully dopey.

I remember (90s) people who showed ass crack when bending/sitting were noticed and laughed at. Can’t understand how it’s remotely comfortable!

I agree. Uncomfortable and cold.

I wish overalls could come back into fashion. No belts, no braces, no worker smile :) Edit: or "dungarees" I guess. What a name lol

I wear a boiler suit all the time, I don't care if its fashionable or not. I've got pairs for work and clean ones for wearing out
