With suspenders there’s no additional pain and allows my bowels to swell and move about without any adjustment! Highly recommend trying them.

Fast forward to my latest tuxedo, I had to have the tailer remove the belt loops from the pants and put in buttons for the suspenders. Same thing with the last suit I purchased. I'll confess to wearing a belt with leans only due to the cost to retrofit each pair for suspenders.

I'm a bit on the rounder side, trying to lose it but even if I ever do lose my gut to even a small degree...I'll still love my suspenders that I got. I got a pair of the Y strap clip on style suspenders for comfort...a belt buckle of any size can dig into my stomach when I sit down, and not having to adjust my belt after I eat is great. The fact is suspenders sadly are very niche and usually only worn by 3 types of people now 1) heavier set guys/those with a rounder shape as stated in the vid, 2) people who like old fashioned things and don't care about perception and thus wear clothing styles and fashion from before they were born on the regular, and 3) Old folks who already wore suspenders growing up and are used to them. Sadly these 3 types of people that wear suspenders on the regular give a rather...negative look for those who are fashion conscious or want something that looks "cool"....I can tell you right now I have to order my suspenders online cause I don't think I've ever seen a local store sell them over belts.

@Arbbal2 күн бұрын
Funny that you mention that. I have a pair of suspenders that are designed to attach to a belt. They are a y style, with a clip that slides behind the belt and hooks to the bottom of the belt, there is even a small gap in the clip for the belt loop to pass through. The idea is that you don't have to cinch down the belt and can wear it loose so it is more comfortable, as the suspenders are what actually hold up the pants.

I havent worn a belt for over 10 years. You can simply sew suspender buttons on any trousers. The height of the waistband really isnt a real issue here, but of course, higher waists make trousers waaaay more comfortable (low rises really are stupid in every way). That being said, a low rise is actually more of an issue with belts, at least for men: Since our belly bulge is higher on the body than for women, a low waist means that a belt would sit below that bulge. That means that it is constantly being pushed down by the belly. And that means that one is constantly trying to readjust the trousers. Gruesome.
@captaincolata93563 күн бұрын
As a man with an athletic V-shaped torso, I almost can‘t wear high rise trousers with a belt that properly holds them up. Therefore I switched to suspenders and will never go back (for this type of trousers).

Interesting that this video should pop up now, because I have always worn belts... but, recently have been wearing suspenders, for medical purposes... As a result, I have been rocking suspenders every day for the last month as my waist heals up...

Though I will say, as soon as I am healed up, I am going straight back to wearing a belt! Laziness/apathy on the customer's part shouldn't be discounted. When you need to go to a tailor to get something sewn on (as you often need to do for proper suspenders), a lot of people just aren't willing to do it for something most people already see as too much of a hassle. Most pants already have the belt loops there so it's just easier to use a regular belt when they're wearing a suit. Now for men into style this isn't an issue, they're likely to go to a tailor anyway for other needs and necessities but the average American isn't anymore. It needs a little extra effort to be done properly, so a lot of people just won't do that because they don't want to put in that money and effort for something they already don't care about (that being wearing suits to begin with). tl;dr - Going to a tailor is too much of a hassle for some Americans so they'll just stick to belts.

Belts, IMO, should only be worn on 2 occasions. 1. Work related utility. A cop. A carpenter. etc. 2. With denim. Belts are casual. Wearing them with a suit is an abomination, again IMO. Furthermore, they make you look "cut in half." Your attire, especially suits, should drape. They should flow. And a belt disrupts this symmetry.

I've always hated belts, so suspenders are my go-to, but you definitely have to have a certain style already to pull them off. A lot of fashion is about confidence, but you're not gonna pull off the jeans and t-shirt with suspenders look no matter how confident you are, much in the same way that the fedora + anime shirt look is never going to work. And please stay away from clip-ons omg. Suspenders generally get a bad image because of the older gents wearing clip-ons to hold up their jeans, while also sometimes wearing a belt with it, which is a whole other thing, lol. 😂
