Glad they changed the design. I sold my 1260 a month ago. Thanks for the video.

Hey, enjoying your videos - we bought a 420 cc Wood chipper from Princess Auto in Canada and a lot of your comments and hints are pertinent to it too. I have had great luck with Timken belts - their Gold Ribbon Cog Belt BX39 at the moment. Went thru a couple of cheaper belts before putting these on and they have been bomber (the PA chipper doesn't have an idler/ tension adjuster) a year now. Great tip about drilling out the belt cover on the bottom. This summer the chipper did run a bit hot on that side and extra cooling would help. Since you take the cover off to grease the drum bearing, it's an easy clean job. Keep up the great work. Cheers from the Great White North up here!

Very nice change. Did this easily.. removed idler pulley, loosen engine, tilt, add new belts. Much easier compared to system with pulley. replaced with B&D Power drive belts (less than $10 each). we will see how these hold out. While it might be a safety issue, I have decided to run the chipper without the belt cover to see how that works. I am the only one operating the chipper and I think heat is the single item causing most belt failures and any thing which reduces heat is a winner. I direct the chipped material to the side opposite the belts to reduce the possibility of a chip into the belt system. This also allows a visual inspection of the belts almost constantly. I feed from directly behind hopper so am not in direct line of belts for the most part. After 1 hour of chipping this morning, the clutch and belts felt much less hot compared to my remembrance of last time with belt cover in place. Maybe my imagination. I do not feel that running the chipper with the belt cover removed is a large safety issue for me although I have been around this sort of machinery for many years.

Long time subscriber and have enjoyed your videos and expertise. Built a few boats and am looking for my next project. How would I go about getting the plans for the 16 foot John Duk. I am very interested. Thank you

Nice explanation…..did you upgrade the bolts too?

@10:36 i have seen a video where a belt caught on fire, so the lack of venting sounds like a design flaw.
