I remember seeing them on SCTV way back when and was blown away with how they combined the B-52's and Talking Heads through a Japanese filter. I had to run out and get their first LP (Which * had to be * on Island Records!) Unfortunately, I lost track of The Plastics since that first LP. I guess I'm in for happy discoveries doing internet searches for them. I hope they still have penguins running around in their videos!

Back in the late 70s/early 80s I was going to school at Boston University and this band along with Talking Heads and The B-52s and Devo were all I wanted to listen to!

Had this album as a kid, never heard these guys LIVE though. Devo, the B-52's and the Talking Heads all knew about this band, and liked them. Fan-tabulous stuff, man ! ! ! Thank, rocklobsterred for posting this little gem...

I saw them live back in College, it was an incredible. They were the warm up band for The Talking Heads. A few months before their place in rock music became legendary. we know them now 30 odd years later shortly before the Fame. Those were great years for rock music. The Plastics were sensational, but too weird for the US I guess. We had DEVO in the same period. Saw them twice, saw the “Plasmatics twice, rental cops made a show of arresting Wendy. After the show a few stage rounds went into the ceiling. Saw DEVO twice. Zappa only once alas.

I listen to them in the early 80s.......Loved their edgy New Wave sound. Maybe I am nitpicking here. I don't think the live play capture their sound (hard to explain). This came across muted sounding (from memory). Where is the harshness!!! Still have the album. Need to get a new record player to hear the original recordings.

People want the lyrics for this great music/人々はこの素晴らしい音楽の歌詞を望んでいます 助けてください、私は自分をばかにします! This is what I hear (with omissions - please fill the blanks and alter as you see fit)... Hour after hour, when the night's a modern night It's a positive insecure, in this modern world From rhythm to Bauhaus From Russia to (----------) (----------) to Monet Problem to human race Ohhh shut up baby, don't be so serious! Someday I'll call your name: Mr Diamond Head Shower head, think about it, do not dis-suppose Diaclam zionist, Ander's progress I give promotion work, existenteerless Meta fishka de kiriko Fooooold into dilemma Ohhhh FUCK OFF baby, don't be so serious! Someday I'll call your name: Mr Diamond head (guitar solo) Optimist is pessimist, let them just kill a boy's fear Andalucian gospels I will strike down the formal She'll live and kill rhythm I spy get loaded Bruce You're just keen, I can't escape Oh you bastard, come here by my side Listen to the new men Ohhhhhh ...it's coming! The more I listen to this I feel the male singer is influenced by Mark E Smith Obviously most of my "interpretations" are misheard and utter bollocks so please feel free to copy/paste and correct. 私の翻訳のほとんどはナンセンスだと思います。訂正してください。

They would have sounded more confident and legit if they sang in Japanese. Just like when Nina Hagen sounded powerful when singing in German and just silly when singing in English.

Totally agree. Kraftwerk recorded many of their songs in both German and English, and the English versions are awful. Not a comment on their accents, but just that German works with their music so much better.
