I was lucky enough to see PLASTICS opening for B-52s in Detroit! I liked B-52s, of course, but I loved the Plastics -- bought their expensive vinyl albums in 1980 even when I could not pay rent. Decades later, I hunted down their rare CDs living in California. In 2024 they remain my top-top-top-top favorites!
A recent video about the Once In A Lifetime music video, which I first saw in 1982 on SCTV, led me to, at long last, look up The Plastics who aired right after. I'm so glad to see them like this in live rocking out splendor. No wonder so many bands loved them!

Just discovered them and Oh My! I get a Devo-like vibe off of them.

生まれてない時代だけど面白いバンドですね。テクノの走りだけど限りなくパンクに近いですね。

I remember when this came out and my local TV alternative music video show aired this in VANCOUVER Canada. I was so into punk and new wave back then. Was cool to see Japan getting into it as well. It was soooooo foreign. Back in the days before globalization and the internet. Stuff like this was like music from Mars. Pretty good video for the time. Loved the guitar solo. Very surf groovy.

Soundproof? with Buzz E Miller and Dave Toddington?
They had ties to Roland and always used all Roland synths but that's definitely a Yamaha CS15 with "Yamaha" covered up. Amazing synth with not only 2 osc and 2 envelopes, but one of the only early synths I've ever seen / owned with 2 completely separate filters (both able to do low pass, high pass, or band pass) and osc 1 can be routed to either or both filters. Insane routing and sounds with that thing. Synth nerd alert.
