@@glitchito5961 as long as Ford does a far better job than they did in the late 90s/early 00s retro futuristic period with the Thunderbird. 50s American sedans space age and futurism inspired designs remind me of the concepts we see from a lot of the Chinese car brands now. My one gripe with their design was the wheels. I'd love to see this sitting on some old school turbofan style wheels. Love everything else though. Not everything needs to go 200mph or have record breaking amounts of horsepower and torque.

@@carlosandleon It's not actually flashy. This design is very simple. The only thing flashy about it is the paint color, and yes the wheels being changed is easy. That still doesn't take away that I don't think they suit the simplicity of the car's design.

​@@niktodt1 No, you can't offer the car as a newly produced model. But it would be possible to sell the conversion kit. Opel did partner up with an external company to not use rare in house parts. If you get the documentation what parts are used (and how they are installed) you can build an equal conversion yourself (given you have a good base model Manta A). If should be noted the fancy front display is a show off. You can't have active animations during "drive mode", there are conventional led headlights taken from Zafira.

What I really don't get about the topic of this car is that so many people say "put it into production", "please make this" and everything, BUT IT IS CALLED MOD BECAUSE IT IS AN ORIGINAL MANTA that has been MODDED. It is not a new car, it is nothing they would or even could produce, because it is a 50 year old car, just like the Hyundai. How are people not getting this? Especially on instagram or so, are people even able to read?

@@calebnewton_ this design is not compliant to any regulations today. Totally impossible. Thats why you see cars as the singer or the eagle built out of original classics, whyle it would be cheaper to do bodywork from scratch. But they need the original base which was once already registred. Othersise it would be a "new" car, which would be impossible to register due to regulations.

i love the way you had to mention the elektro with a k and the fact that you loveit even though its just the german spelling of electro edit: i think what opel did was mount the electric motor in the traditional way like you would mount an IC engine. so they fitted a transmission that we all know about. if you look at the rear wheels at least i cant see motors there so i have a very high suspicion that the electric motor is actually in the engine bay

If I'm forced to give up my ICEs in the future, I really hope manufacturers will come out with (fairly) easy to install, and most importantly affordable, retrofit electronic kits. I have three 70s & 80s Opels that I wan't to drive for years to come. I would love to know, in detail how this particular Manta was converted. I wouldn't go all the way with the LED panels and everything though, but I understand them from a design, and concept standpoint. It's cool to see vintage cars getting some recognition, amidst all this (pretty forceful) push for EVs.

I think that the manual might limit the speed of the car to every gear to make it feel manual. Not actually switching gears but allowing the car to go faster. That's my guess, but I'm really not sure.

No, it's literally the original 1970 Gearbox. The engine is just replaced with an e-motor.

Electric motor bolts onto the original gearbox and drives the rear wheels as normal. The car produces so much torque you can just put it in 4th and pull away.

The Manual transmission is just carried over from the original car. As the name Elektromod implies this is the old car, just with a new powertrain and an updated Front and rear. In many classic ev conversions the manual gearbox is carried over to bring the original feeling, even though it wouldn’t be possible.

It's a bit more complicated than that. This particular car originally had an optional 3-speed automatic transmission. However, when the restomod was being worked on, it was replaced with a manual transmission, since it was much more common back in the day.

i hope this become a thing... look that car, is much better than those shitty design projects of nowadays, i'am not trying to be the old dude.. i love mitsubishi eclipse from 2000, i had vectra (astra) love omega, and others cars with futuristic looks, but, i hate those body odd forms ass some cars does nowadays... i prefer more square forms and this car get me really in the point... new lamps, new interior panels, remove all shitty stuff and make it eletric! just nice stuff! i had a bmw 2015 120i, i totally love the car, but, i prefer the older version, because of from lamps that are odd format. The rest is really okay, but my old Astra (Vectra GT-X in brazil 2010) are the peak! that car had aggressive face, amazing stuff too is kind i love peugeot 307 but hate peugeot 308 design, too round or not cool design... for sure i love GM with Opel projects but Onix and Cruze i can't, i just can't... the car is not that great in design and materials used are poor, and leaks a lot! no conditional air in the glove pocket, no assistent lights going out in night time, the cars interiors are all hard plastic that will break fast shaking arround in 2 or 3 years, the car are shitty maded is obvious... This manta looks much better in design and i hope had good quality materials... for years i just pick old cars because i can't handle those shitty hole they are selling here last decade or more... this may helps cars designs again!
