the reason why they went straight from concept to a limited production is, they would of been showing what is possible or where their design is heading, however after getting quite a lot of interest, theyve already paid for all the tooling for all the body work for pressing and stamping etc that they will be recouping that cost. If they sunk 20 mill into the tooling , moulds and all of that, they probably thought, lets do a limited run and recoup all those costs its already based on a working platform so no money lost. This is BMWs answer to bespoke one of ferraris etc for saudi billionaires. A set of 50 cars to pay for the concepts costs. Good play.

@Rocco532Ай бұрын
Saw that car in person at launch at Villa d’Este. It’s not that good looking in person at all (front area aside). The threequarter, and the back area over the rear the wheels is way too fat. The car is generally too fat and because of that the whole body looks bloathed over the wheels that look way too small hidden underneath and inside of the body. So due to all that it doesn’t have any Bmw muscular looks to it, it looks more like a soft bulevard cruiser it would be a good Rolls Royce for example. It’s not in any way looking like a Z8 as that was a thin, svelte design. But compared to all the latest Bmw SUV and saloon design monstrosities (the 2 series coupe only looking good) it looks very good and clean but not as a Bmw car, here they again totally missed the mark.

The more organic the design is the better it looks. Here you can see the step up from angular ugly robot ass to a shark fase. Looks mean and primal intuitively. That's why those lines match that well. This will look intimidating right away. And this is a good thing that worked for BMW before that head of design they fired recently

BMWs retail business model is churn em and burn em. Meaning lease em and dump em. The cars drive maybe 10% better than the competition for 40% more money. Adding insult to injury they are not built to last much beyond the lease period before expensive repairs become necessary. If Rolex watches followed the BMW formula the hands would fall off and mainsprings would break after 3yrs. But you’d buy another one because, it’s a Rolex.

I like the styling cues individually, but together the whole thing feels very heavy and overweight. To my eye this also looks older than the Lexus LC 500, which has been out for quite some time. If a brand that wasn't German came out with this car I think it would be derided in the press and online. The front wheel, for example, is so far back the car looks like it could be FWD.
