I remember watching Ben 10 when it first came out, it was actually pretty decent with a hand drawn art style, funny moments and some actual dark and gritty moments (for a kids cartoon anyway) it was kind of similar to the 90s Batman and Superman cartoons in some ways. I just loved the idea of the Omnitrix and the world building they did over the five seasons with some feature length movies (Secrets of the Omnitrix, not the god awful live actions, the less said about those the better). Then they changed it up to a teenage Ben and it was okay, by that point I stopped watching. Anything after that was complete garbage and watered down. If this game was in the same vain as the first Ben 10 cartoon with the world building, space and time travel and a bit more of an edge I’d definitely go for it but seeing the sad kiddy watered down version is just sad

My kids are going to love this. The split screen is heaven-sent. I just hope they at least cap the framerate to 30 so as not to stress the hardware compared to when it had to do 60. That may remedy most of the framerate issues hopefully. My kids love retro games, they are not going to care much for resolution. :)

Thanks for the review, big Ben 10 fan and wasn’t sure if there’d be any reputable reviews for it. The performance and graphic show issues suck, I was actually kind of excited for the Switch version, prefer to play my games there as long as it’s not too bad a port, but this sounds like too many sacrifices. Thanks, I might try to pick this up cheap for PS4 soon, just wish the Switch port was good.

Played the first one on ps4 with my kids. Have to say, I actually enjoyed it. Unfortunately they decided to go with open 3d levels with this one. Preferred the side scrolling. Guess I'm old-school.

The first incarnation of Ben 10 was actually pretty gritty and dark at times, it reminded me of the 90s Batman and Superman cartoons in some ways. Secrets of the Omnitrix was a pretty good movie and the Ben 10,000 episodes were standouts for me. The older Ben 10 was alright I stopped watching cartoons at this point so I wasn’t as into it then anything after that was just no. If they ever make an open world Ben 10 in the vain of the original series with some of that edge then I’d be more inclined to play that, this version is just too kiddy for me

After playing this game for a bit, I can say it’s pretty decent but has very blatant flaws and weird voice acting. The character models are very Jaggy and A lot of the world looks very empty but I certainly don’t think it’s the worst Ben 10 game. For me that Galactica racing. I will happily play this, played every Ben 10 game and I’m 25 now.. I do think the choice to use 3-D models and not the usual comic book style, Cell shaded Characters like the original reboot game or ominvverse 1 and 2 was a really bad choice. Ben and Gwen look like they have fish eyes and grandpa Max looks hilarious. The alien models are absolutely fine though. Diamondheads’ crystals look very pretty. Locking Kevin Behind corporative play was a terrible choice. They should have giving you the choice to swap between them at the rustbucket. I like Kevins’ aliens better because they are new. Couch co-op Is a thing a lot of games lack nowadays, But you should’ve been able to switch between the characters in single player as well.

Utter trash, full of bugs, obtuse controls (can’t flip Y axis for the camera) objective markers disappear and reappear at random. My 6 year old broke the game in the first 5 minutes, was locked out of an area without the requisite alien to clear the correct path to burn down some fallen trees requiring a restart. I downloaded this game for free through PS+ and the space it’s taking on my SSD is too high a price to pay. Utter garbage 2/10.

Yup. It’s sad to see how they could trade in the first version of the hand drawn art style for...that. The first couple of seasons had some darker elements to them as well, and the world building was actually impressive with space and time travel, grandpa Max being more than just your average grandpa and he Ben 10,000 episodes were really cool. Then they scrapped it all for the god awful watered down kiddy stuff this game was made more. The possibilities they had with the original just makes it all the more sad
