Stay tuned. We have a lot more new music coming out in the coming months.
The Jewish New Year ( Rosh Hashanah) is fast approaching. We are now in the month of Elul in the Hebrew (Lunar) calendar. This is a time of contemplation and introspection as we reflect on our collective actions of the past year, and meditate on how we can be better versions of our selves.
Our newest video is inspired by an ancient Piyut (liturgical poem) that many Jewish communities recite daily during Elul in the lead-up to Rosh Hashana. Ben Adam was written by an anonymous poet many centuries ago.
The lyrics admonish mortal beings (ie of us) to wake up from our slumber and to do the spiritual work needed order to improve ourselves for the coming year. This performance of our original music for the song features performances by our incredible guest artists (David Wall - lead Vocal & Joel Visentin - Hammond Organ).
Many thanks to our close friend and colleague, Rabbi Aubrey Glazer for his beautiful translation.
Mortal Being now is not the time to sleep!
Rise up, shout your supplications!
Spill forth words, find forgiveness
from the Master of all Masters!
Come clean and purify without delay
Act, before many days to go by!
And rapidly scurry in support
Facing the Dweller in abodes
Wonders never cease
From this realm of the spirit
You are the Source of all that is just;
And humbled are we truly.
