Live in WA and we have a ton of Mormons here. Gotta say Mormons are the best neighbors to have. Absolutely love living around them. Having the positivity is so much fun and it's great to have non drinking friends. Have not given up drinking myself, but moved it down to a weekend a month. I won't convert from Orthodox, but I will always entertain and talk to the missionaries. I wish we had more people with values these days. I feel it's rare even in my church at times!!

@llistic There is not a single reason to be mean to them. They are doing one of the hardest things to do in our society and that is to knock on people's doors. Have to put yourself in their shoes and realize how many others are going to be mean to them that day. At least be the one house that greats them and has a conversation about faith. My wife laughs at me and says I'm the only person that can out talk the missionaries, but then again I did many years of seminary.

I agree with Ben, I love and respect the Mormons more than I can put into words. The single thing thats kept me from visiting an LDS church is the no coffee/tea thing. Not a single one of my Mormon friends can explain it, they're the same ones who drink more red bull and monster than anyone I know. Seemingly natural caffeine is bad, adulterated sugar caffeine is good.
@WranglermanLevi

At the time the Word of Wisdom, or law of health was introduced in the LDS church (middle 1800's), it was common for Mormon men to chew and smoke tobacco just like everyone else at that time did. It is no secret that addictions such as alcohol, tobacco and addictive substances such as coffee and tea are unhealthy. This is the spirit of the law. You are correct in my opinion, that energy drinks, excessive sugar and overeating are also harmful in a similar way. People who refuse coffee or tea but indulge in excessive caffeine or other vices are like the pharisees in the bible and would do well to change. If you actually read the Word of Wisdom in its entirety, it is a law of health and besides warnings against things you shouldn't eat or drink, there are also many things we are encouraged to consume. For example, red meat sparingly, fruits in their season, etc. Like alot of other commandments, you'll probably get out of it as a benefit what you put into it by way of observance.
@devinnelson5410

You can still go to the church if you drink coffee and tea. Go to the church, try it for a month a year. If the holy spirit of God manifests to you then you will know for yourself the path God wants you to follow. As far as the caffeine part, the doctrine doesn't say anything about caffeine but the doctrine does say that all things in moderation. The key is to focus on yourself and your relationship with God and Jesus and not others and what they are doing and not doing.

@@danblumel Hi Dan. It seems I am responding to allot of your comments. Ignore them or don't. I am responding to you mostly for the sake of others who will read this. May I suggest a video on KZbin by Dieter F Uchtdorf titled Grace and Works. Dieter is an Apostle of the LDS church. You will find that Mormons agree with you. This is not actually a rebuttal to you comment. I'm inviting you to look deeper. The Name of my church is: The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. The latter-day part is Jesus wanted to distinguish us from his original church separated by 1000+ years of apostasy. It was Jesus himself that named the church after himself. We believe Jesus is the Jehovah of the old testament. We believe he created the heavens and the earth under his fathers direction. We believe that he visited the whole earth as a resurected person, in person, after his first fruits resurection. See: We actually believe in Jesus Christ more than you do. It was Jesus Christ himself with his Father that visited Joseph Smith that started this whole Mormon thing. Look deeper This is Christs church with true doctrine to guide us with some flawed people along the way. I have needed to repent many times. I'm better now than I was 10 years ago due to my devotion to Jesus Christ. Sorry for the epistle. Sometimes I get carried away. LOVE all around 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@idontthinkso4692 In the end, it is the quantity and the way it is handled that makes the poison. In addition, the rules of the various religions must of course always be placed in the context of the time in which they were created. The 19th century was not necessarily known for its moderate use of alcohol, which is why the rule made perfect sense at the time and was an advantage for the community, as were other Mormon rules that also made sense because the hotspot of the time, Utah, which was very remote at the time, also needed certain rules for a successful life there…. Same like with Muslims where it made good sense to bann pork meat if you look at the origin region and food standards back in that time. Alcohol in moderation is Biblical, Jesus changed water into premium fine wine for a wedding. It wasn't unfermented grape juice as they LDS claim. I'd say the in-group preference thing is more a matter of human nature and societal norms than anything to do with the faith. Would you be more likely to be friendly with a neighbor you see weekly at church, work alongside at service projects, camp with in the young men's organization, etc., etc.? You'd be more likely to do business with them, too. You'd be more likely to form relationships outside your congregational boundaries with those of the faith - for sheer comfort and risk management. Short story is, it's not intentional. Also, it's natural to perceive a slight when you're not as engrained in a community as others are. All you have to do is be open-minded and expend effort to get to know your LDS neighbors. Yes, they'll try to convert you, but that is their way of loving/serving you as their brother. If you just want to expand your place in the community, take it. No good person will resist you.

In my experience with the LDS Church , they have great family values , work ethics, and so on . But I got treated like crap as a convert . In my ward if you weren't born into the faith, you were treated as a LESS THAN Mormon . Plus they believed that if you're not LDS you can not have the Holy Spirit reside within you . That is only a couple of reasons I left the LDS Church

I wonder if Dave went through a “Lot” experience how his faith might hold up. When you have financial means you can craft a lot of idols that can distract you. Until you come to realize how depraved you are and the need for God’s death on the cross you will be lead astray. Might be Mormon, Hindu, Muslim, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), Word of Faith/Prosperity doctrine that trips you up.

I was raised Mormon. Once I moved out, I have never went back. I do not like what religion does to people. The second leading cause behind genocide in history is religion. Following behind democide (genocide by government). Religion is often used as an excuse to judge people. Except the Bible states it’s up to God to judge, not man. My view is that believing in a magical mythological being in the sky that constantly changes their mind, is impossible to please, has a plan but at the same time gives you a choice, is no different or delusional than someone believing they were born in the wrong body. Whatever you choose to believe is your business. Just don’t force those beliefs on me. No matter if it’s religious or woke.

Many good people will end up in hell ! Why because they are lost and without the truth , that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross shedding his blood to pay for their sins ! He was buried for 3 days , and was RESURRECTED by the power in his own blood ! By the grace of God when you understand and confess that you are a sinner in need of salvation , and you BELIEVE this with HEARTFELT FAITH and you TRUST in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that paid for your sins , you are immediately sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise , and baptized into the body of Christ until the day our redemption is completed ! If you BELIEVE this you TRUST it , if you TRUST IT you BELIEVE it , if you have FAITH in it you BELIEVE it and TRUST it ! It is impossible to please God without FAITH in the BLOOD of his only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ ! The Lord Jesus Christ says his grace is sufficient for thee , BUT HE WILL NOT FORGIVE UNBELIEVERS of his Fathers Word ! You can't earn it , it is a free gift offered to anyone who will BELIEVE it , by the grace of God ! Please don't be left behind as a unbeliever ! It's the most important decision you will ever make !

I think the statement "I am not looking to be a mormon, but I respect them so much" is so funny to me. I grew up thinking most of the world was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I lived in Utah, but when I moved away and saw the sadness in the rest of the world, I couldn't wait to go back home. The values are of God, and they make you happier, so just playing the what if game here. What if you could know for sure that This is Christ's Church, and that by living it's principles, which are really Jesus' principles, living these would make you happier, and more satisfied in life. So what if you could know for sure? Then would you be more willing to look into becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ? The best part of being a missionary for the church is we don't have to convince anyone. All we do is share, ask you to pray about it, and if God answers you, then we invite you to follow through. So if God is really behind it, then why would you not be interested, If the most pure being ever, the most powerful, the most knowledgeable, the most loving being in the universe wants you so much he is willing to talk to you by way of the Spirit most often, but if he is willing to do that for you, why would you not want to know more?

I have many questions for the church but one that simply can’t have a rational explanation for me is how did Joseph place the Garden of Eden in Missouri and how do the Saints take that revelation and believe it? Another is Joseph taught that Adam was not only the first man but also the first prophet and furthermore he was the Archangel Michael in his premortal existence (according to Joseph Smith) also after his soul left his body Joseph claimed he resumed the role of Michael the Archangel. Now for my question, does the Holy bible not teach us that we will rule over the angels? That doesn’t seem right to me that if Adam being the first Prophet, that just the common man would rule over him in the hereafter. Thoughts??

As a adult I’m not religious at all and yet I’ve had no commitment issues with women prior to getting married and I’m successful. All my friends in the same situation are the same. To say non-religious people are failures in life is ridiculous.
