Yes, bring in Aimi to show the skills too. It's cool to see how two people practice the same skill.

This last year I wanted to learn to jump. I had bought a used DH bike for shuttle / park rides and really wanted to force myself upwards. I was comfortable with drops, but making the conscious decision to huck myself into the air was hard. On park days when I would rather have sent some steep technical runs and chewed up some single track, I spent most of my time on the flow trails. I hired a coach for a lesson, took some videos with a mate, and tried to do better. Even at home, I chose a couple afternoons at The Ranch over hitting some trails. Just sending the practice tables over and over and over. I'm still not a good jumper, but I am jumping! There has been a couple scares, but there has also been a couple jumps on the trails where my speed was good and the technique clicked and I flew with the angels. It felt so amazing! I even sent a solid 12' step-up gap...that I didn't know was a gap. I cased the hell out of it, but it's the confidence that is growing in me as a rider that I am taking away from this.

Growing up I always messed about on my bike. So play, and that crucial time of practicing the skills, was regularly done. I think many people that take up the sport as an adult maybe don’t just play and mess about practicing these things. Whether it’s cause they think just riding is the main priority to spend their time on or they don’t realise the value in skill development that these “play sessions “ actually provide you. Over lying message is get out , ride, have fun, don’t forget to stop and maybe session something for a while to refine and learn. It’s not all about getting maximum runs in a day or racking up the most Km’s.

Brilliant 1st series, great start to the second series. Like Aimi, she comes across really well on film, very likable/relatable. Get her a contract for next year!! Your info is on point and I agree with 99% of your techniques, your method of delivery and the structure of the videos is really good too. Just a great job, keep going, be proud of what you're doing, full noodle.

I learned a lot from season 1 and applied pretty much all of it sucessfully (to a degree lol). One thing I think would be useful this season is covering more drops the ben cathro way. Like different ways to hit different drops vs speed etc etc. Of all the lessons, the drops one was the hardest for me to apply. Maybe that and different approaches to different jumps v2.

I’ve watched episodes of Season 1 over and over, loved it, but 😅 I’m like so many and haven’t mastered much of it. The biggest reason is not being able to commit enough time to practice and master. Thanks Ben, in advance.

Suggestion for a next video - could you go more in-depth for the "push" technique for drops? I do drops with a pulling technique and I'm scared to apply pushing - it feels like I'll smash myself into the ground. The "push" explainer in Season 1 felt a bit short.

To be fair, it's pretty dang hard to manual with a long wheel base enduro bike like the Santa Cruz ones they are rocking here. Tough spot to start, Aimi!
@Pierrick5842 ай бұрын
Personally my biggest issue with improving with the season one isn't about the videos themself, it's finding trails that are actually appropriate to learn stuff. I've blocked at cornering, I dint find yet a decent trail that goes down enough so I don't need to pedal though the corner, or that isn't too extreme about it. so maybe the videos could be considering the terrain issue a bit more.

more, shorter videos has a benefit: each can have an actionable take-home. The long ones are good, but like a hungry grocery shopper, it's easy to add too many things to the to do list. This is especially so in today's ever more 'tic toc world'

I don't even remember learning how to manual. It was just something you pick up on as a kid riding bikes all the time. Some of my kids are already far more talented than I am just from being introduced to more and greater challenges from a young age. I know you can learn as an adult but it is not near as fast as it is for the young. Not to mention the time you have to compound on that learning is less.

I'm not very athletically inclined.... In my movements. Throwing a ball or disc, swinging a bat, punching, kicking, trying to manual... I have absolutely no activation coordination for my muscle groups and also the movements are awkward and waste a lot of effort. Luckily I have lots of effort to give and still make stuff happen, tho not as much as it should or in a very capped out, incorrect way.... And bringing my feel/real together?... oh I'm very lost on that. A lot of people say I'm not using my core and hips to do this or do that and I keep thinking I am but I'm apparently not... This is a severe holdup for me on lots of skills/athletics.
