Having listened to these guys back in the 90s going to college and working at a hardware store, and now still processing grief from a painful divorce, reading anything on grief, this song popped up on my feed. Love how God has me listening to a bunch of songs to distract me until I get to this one. The line about both of us not grieving our own past and how that affected the relationship is IT!! Such a gem in the rough.

One of the most talented bands overall...everyone pulls their weight and then some. These sessions sounds almost exactly like the album versions; I didn't think it could be done so well live

Love the lyrics in this song: "where do all the secrets live? they travel in the air. you can smell them when they burn, they travel. those who say the past is not dead, stop and smell the smoke." let the past go, people! BFF at their best.

How did I never figure out the melodica + piano sound? That and the strummed piano make for a fantastic timbre...

I love this song and this performance so much, it's absurd. It cuts to the core of the whole human experience.

I like the lyrical device of bleeding one line into another "here's a secret no one will ever know the reasons for the tears" like the "no one will ever know" finishes one line but starts the next. Is there a bame for that sort of thing?

Another great BFF break up song. So. Many. Breakup songs.
@Preston_Hudson5 жыл бұрын
Jeremiah Collins just as an fyi, it is a break up song, but he generalized the writing since it was for a friend into a larger theme about the past and it’s futility.
