Ben has some fantastic songs for when you're in a great mood and think to yourself "yeah enough of that!"

10 years pouring my heart into an engineering job in oil and gas. They laid me off like I was no one. Two years later and I'm head tool and carton die maker for a small company. I go to work and all of a sudden, eight hours have passed by. I'm well respected by my coworkers and the owner. I go home tired, dirty, and having done something objectively useful. I love it more than anything I've ever done. I'm never going back to the corporate world. Screw those people.

I love Ben Fold’s work so much. Not only is it touching and artful, but I became aware of him when I was in the army. Returning from leave from Iraq I listened to Ben Folds Live non stop on the multiple flights. Really comforted me and sticks with me to this day.

Knowing so many people in the newspaper business after having worked at one in the 80s, this is just a gut-punch.

The gorgeous combination of melody and pathos in this song have always killed me. The last chorus is always sung in loud sobs in my car.

This has always been one of my fav Ben songs for many reasons .. I'm not ancient but I've been around long enough to see people retire, jobs go, factories and shops close etc.... I was just thinking about just how many jobs (such as people at newspapers ... that still exist) that will be taken by AI. Soon and hard and brutal. And it fills me with an even deeper sadness. The job mentioned in this story about a guy who cared about his job .. no chance."paints" "projectors"!. Nope. Hey we might have a soul-less Ben in your little enclave of this brave new limited world! If your social credits allow you to listen of course.

I hope people in the current social climate realize that eventually we all have to be Stan... just worry that today’s 18 year olds will be Stan before they hit 30 at this rate.
