Ben Goertzel at TEDxHongKong

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. I love this guy. He is like a scientist from a Kurt Vonnegut novel, cheerily working toward the final invention of humanity. Anyone else see a problem here? I suggest that you read Vonnegut's novels and then what Musk, Kaku (as to most alien species likely being carnivores/omnivores due to a brain's energy needs), and Hawking said. Greed is wonderful: now, it makes us disregard any longer-term, catastrophic danger because of the initial prospect of great wealth, benefits, other advances from AIs, etc. Could this be a solution to the Fermi paradox, if all civilized species eventually develop AIs and then go extinct?

The way Ben Goertzel articulate reminds me of, in some extent, Wade Hebert from GTA V. Ben would possibly imitate Wade flawlessly if he took a serious attempt at it.

I would rather a Arnold Schwarzenegger looking robot than a cute Furby. I would want mine with a flask on his hip and a corn pipe.

Lets be visionary, if they make little robots with emotional expression we are heading to ZPG Zero Population growth, out of free will, just having a kid, for the hours when we want to roleplay parents. and then we put them back in the closet, or sell it/him on ebay, or buy another one, when we are tired of , or buy different groups of, and set a daily active period of them interacting, to feel what it was like, a big happy family, without disturbing our selfish social life.
