I love this guy. He is like a scientist from a Kurt Vonnegut novel, cheerily working toward the final invention of humanity. Anyone else see a problem here? I suggest that you read Vonnegut's novels and then what Musk, Kaku (as to most alien species likely being carnivores/omnivores due to a brain's energy needs), and Hawking said. Greed is wonderful: now, it makes us disregard any longer-term, catastrophic danger because of the initial prospect of great wealth, benefits, other advances from AIs, etc.

Creating an AI by a combination of multiple AI's, which reportedly is similar to how our brain functions, with different portions performing specific functions, which can then understand and perform a multiple set of completely different tasks better than humans? What could go wrong?

Could this be a solution to the Fermi paradox, if all civilized, intelligent species eventually develop AIs and then go extinct?

I think you're along the right track for solution to Fermi paradox. However if what you said was true then we would see type 3 ai civilizations roaming the cosmos. Instead I think the Fermi paradox applies because races that get far enough to reach ai will instead realize there's no need to leave their solar system due to the universal speed limit. Why invest so much exploring the galaxy when u can simulate everything imaginable with a Dyson sphere. That's my personal opinion and how it differs from yours. And idfk how it became this long

Sure, if we ever develop truly super-intelligent AIs, we will prolong the human lifespan? Maybe, but for how long and whose? I am amazed at those who think pairing AIs with robotic technology, so they can interact with the real world, will ultimately result in a positive outcome in the long term. Ignoring existential threats, if a mine owner, for example, can have all work performed by some AI-controlled robots, how long will the miners keep their jobs? The answer: until right after the AI-robots can be installed and are working.

"It's cool to put AIs in bodies" sounds like great last words for the hero before an I-Robot type, or Jurassic-Park-type, horror movie. Good grief!

Wow, the comment at around 10:18 about donating a human who does that to an animal shelter is weird to hear. I work with people with Cerebral Palsy and other cognitive impairments, and this is what they do. Just saying!! It sounded especially cold to me.

I'll wager that the first true AI will arise by replicating a human brain, exactly, either physically, or virtually. You can even build in memory, because all memory is is just tangible neural networks that you can touch - you can build those networks that trigger vague images or smells, chemical reactions that create feelings, etc.

Whatever you are smoking, get it tested. I think it have gone bad. Have you never heard of cooperative research, two brains are better than one, etc? The more people that work on it the faster we can get results. Like building a bridge by yourself versus a whole team with several people building a bridge. Which one do you think will finish first and how much better quality do you think the team bridge could get ?
