A truly great video. I felt compelled, however, to raise a point of disagreement with Mr. Habib that 'religion should be a private matter kept in one's back pocket'. Superstition is rightly so considered, but genuine religion (cognate with ligature) is and must always be truly public and civic, functioning as the moral backbone, the trellis to which the nation's growth is 're-bound' by the ligature. I do not advocate any specific religion, as even atheism could so function, but point out that a large part of our religious problems stem from what was initially agnosticism - the principle that the one thing we know about spiritual matters is that we can know nothing about spiritual matters, and so should not make any pronouncements on them from the 'national soapbox' - having turned into a religion proper, to which we are now being re-bound: Universalism, where all creeds are considered 'true', and so any form of severe religious criticism is in a sense sacrilege. But unless Universalism is true, which rather strains credulity when the various conflicting credal statements are considered, this is simply an incoherent failure state as regards religion and its civic duties. This sort of toleration is often touted as a 'British value', but almost all our nation's history runs contrary to this assertion; we have historically almost always been functionally aware of the public and civic *reality* of religion, aside from purely spiritual matters.

I think a big problem is the use of the word community. A community used to mean everyone regardless of age, race, religion, sexual preference, marital status, class, income, etc, etc, who live and or work in your neighbourhood and who interact with each other on a regular basis. It doesn't mean that anymore. It now means a type of demographic who could live and work many many miles apart, who don't even know each other, but who share a specific characteristic or belief. A community is now just a label that divides us up into groups of one dimensional strangers. This is just one of the things that has caused social erosion. Most places no longer have a genuine community.

Contrary to what Ben Habib said. I worked in unemployment benefit office in the 1970s and we had hundreds of immigrants on our books, often with very similar names, who hoodwinked the inspectors as to who they were. Perhaps in the 1960s, a little earlier many came and worked in the mills but by 1970s most of these were closed down. The story aboit us needing workers is nonsense as a proportion of some immigrants just do not work.
