Country radio hasn't got a clue what country music is. I love traditional country and it's a darn shame Merle's very talented boys aren't played on radio. Why didn't they create a new genre for country pop because that's what it is. They think because they wear cowboy boots they are country! Thank goodness I have all my great country cds. ❤

Merle’s version from Austin City Limits in ‘84 i believe it was is my all time favorite version of this song. Ben’s version just jumped to a close second. The apple never fell from the tree!! Awesome job!

Sorry to hear that! There are a few songs on his later albums that are comforting as well. Toward the end he didn’t have any breakups to write about so his own mortality seemed to creep into his writing more than before. Hope you are comfortable.
