Greetings from Washington DC James! Great to see you back. Another excellent review. Hearing great things about the Hogan PTx Tour. Next you should try the Equalizer II wedge, Texas grind. May be the best you can find off tight lies. Makes it easy. Hit ‘em well.

Strange you should say that David, I think I will be testing them for the Open Championship/July issue of PGR Magazine

These are the only hogans made in the last 20 years I haven’t hit yet. They look very similar to the ptx pro which I game right now, but I know there is a lot more tech in these new tour models. I’ve never played another brand of irons and I’ve been playing for 45years.I’m about to get them sent to me from hogan to demo…can’t wait but they will have to be really good for me to switch from the ptx pro’s.

Thank you for the review. For me the Hogan PTx are the best irons made.

They are certainly up there, I have loved every minute of playing with them so far

Handicap wise what would you say?
@planetgolfreview3 ай бұрын
I would say these would be from around 9 and below. If you are a higher handicap try the PTX Pro or Icon Irons or you could always go for the PTX Pro and Icon combo set. Hope that helps Rich

I heard the company is no longer in operation? I hope they are. Was hoping to purchase a set of these in the near future.

They really are stunning and great to play, I love the feel of the ball coming off the face

What they like forgiveness wise .. currently play Wilson d9 forged … not sure if these are a similar profile
@planetgolfreview7 ай бұрын
These are the Tour option, so it is aimed at the better player but with the weighting it does offer forgiveness as well as great feel. If you are looking for a bit more forgiveness then there is the Ben Hogan Edge Ex, but I haven't tested these as yet but they are aimed at the golfer who is looking for a bit more forgiveness, but still want a classic design
@jnnic81387 ай бұрын
@@planetgolfreview I did have the edge ex a when they 1st came out .. they were nice , but are a really big profile compared to to d9 forged ..

James.. How does the PTx Tour differ fromthe PTx Pro irons which I have a set....
@planetgolfreview6 ай бұрын
To be honest I haven't tested the PTx Pro irons, when I do I will let you know or look out for the review
@paavoschaefer376 ай бұрын
I play the PTx Pro since 5 years (after playing 12 years 50th golden anniversary irons). The difference is in the middle of the back. The bridge is longer on the tour model. So the difference is similar to: PTx Pro = channel back to the PTx Tour = Apex. The PTx Tour is may be a little more “solid” than the PTx Pro.

Please review the Ben Hogan Edge EX too! 👍🏻

Hi Chris, I will ask and see if we can get it in the Christmas issue, if not then I will try for next years Masters issue, but will probably put the video up on here first anyway. I will keep you posted

@@planetgolfreview Thanks, not many reviews of them to make a decision. The only long review I read, the guy said the feel was very “muddy”. 🧐
@planetgolfreview5 ай бұрын
Interesting comment, I wonder if he meant the way the ball came off the face! Instead of springing off the face like some of the game improvement irons do, that the muddy feeling was the ball sticking to the face, which would mean more of the ball getting into the grooves which would create more spin
@chrisb94785 ай бұрын
@@planetgolfreview I think he was saying the “feel” was vague. Not really forged feeling.
