dude the stuff he is singing about in this song, externally keeps me awake every night to this day. After discovering him 9 years ago, I had no clue his lyrical content existed in such a powerful way to help me nearly a decade after coming back then again I was 15 when i heard him for the first time. (and too inexperienced with relationships and life to understand and fathom this path he is talking about.) Promise, is specifically about the dread and fear of loneliness. And how the promises and touch from the loved ones around us are the fuel that Ben lets us know, its okay to need and admit.

If I were standing at the edge of the universe and about to plunge into the darkness beyond, this is what I’d want to be last sound in my ears. A song I have come back to again and again, whenever I needed to. And sometimes even when I didn’t, but still came here. This is truly “soul music”

Such a beautiful song. I don't know why but it makes me think of my finance' that passed 12/25/16 of cancer at the age of 40. I promised her I would be there till the end, what ever end that would be to love and support her anyway I could. Miss her so much. Sometimes it feels good to be sad if that makes any sense; aside from the love it's the only connection left to the loved ones we've lost.

Such a beautiful song, I keep coming back to it again and again. I always think of the small Ohio county I grew up in, driving at night... Each time I see this I wonder where this was filmed. I once heard it was filmed during his driving back one night from a studio that Ben Howard had out in the countryside. Has anyone else heard that? Anyone know what town he ends up in?

And meet me there, with bundles of flowers We'll wade through the hours of cold winter She'll howl at the walls Tearing down doors of time Shelter as we go And promise me this You'll wait for me only Scared of the lonely arms That surface, far below these birds Maybe, just maybe i'll come home Who am i, darling to you? Who am i To tell you stories of mine? Who am i? Who am i, darling for you? Who am i To be your burden in time? Lonely Who am i, to you? Who am i, darling for you? Who am i? To be your burden Who am i, darling to you? Who am i? I come alone here I come alone here

Ben Howard's music videos are so unique...they're simplistic, full of movement, deeply hypnotic. They do not cater to our shifty attention spans. Just when you start sinking into the film and losing track of time, everything changes, and you're watching something different, but somehow the same. Ingenius. I love everything about him.

Last winter I went through a really tough emotional phase contemplating my life and reflecting my past, a relationship, regrets, timing, compromises, missed opportunities and all my mistakes. Gaining weight as I recovered from an excruciatingly painful injury, I would have frequent times where I'd think of not waking up from the next morning onward. I bought an acoustic guitar and kept trying to pick it up just for my own sake and learn some sings I loved, not to perform for others, just for myself. One of those days I came across this song, End of the Affair and Old pine and woke up the next day with more hope and some warmth that was missing like a pencil for an empty notebook. Hang in there

There is this girl i know and i hurt her really bad because i've been in a bad state of mind for almost 4 years now. Everytime someone good comes along, all i see is the hurt of when my first relation ended and i start building another wall arround my feelings. A few days ago i asked this girl if she could give me a second chance. She told me it's to soon for her to forgive me for ignoring her and making her feel like she is not worth it. But we had the promise that even if we no longer talked to each other, we would meet up again in February and go on our dream holliday. So i hope these next few months go by really soon and in february i'll go over there and hope i get me second chance and my chance to be happy with this amazing girl 🙏🏼
