Any one who watched north last year knows that mckays drop in form was inevitable and not a surprise. When the going gets tough he becomes a soft back man and drops his head. Compare him to comben do you ever see him give up on a contest and drop his head? No. Comben is a much better play than McKay ever will be and pick 3 is just the icing on the cake for north

​@@tubester4567North don't need either of them. With the likes of Sheezel, Wardlaw, LDU and Phillips. North's midfield is building towards something that'll last. Not one that'll be one dimensional or pack their bags when things get tough. -Wardlaw and Goad is what North got for trading jhf and that's already proving a success. -aside from tanking being illegal to the game. Enter Mckercher who in the long haul will prove to be just as good as Reid consistently.

I've watched football for 60 years, since 2000 the 3 best players I have seen are Judd, Ablett (jun) and Bontempelli. Judd 2 brownlows, Ablett 2 brownlows (should have been 3), Bont 0 brownlows. Bont is absolutely fabulous and I really hope he wins the Brownlow this year. Bont's body of work of from 2016 until now is wonderful. He is one of the most impactful players I have ever seen. For the record, James Hird is my player of the 90's.

So basically the defensive overlapping is the old 3 man weave training drill until you clear it to an open position / gain territory so it’s not rebounded back in. It’s classic defensive mechanism which supports modern day hand ball as opposed to prior years boot the proverbial out of it to clear it lol. As Issac smith said not rocket surgery 😅

One thing to say & happy for the internet to challenge & say shut up clown or agree & query, but where is the line drawn for those involved in the administration of a team but are also allowed to provided their punditry & then do their day job - where does the conflict sit? The moaning that went on about female Darcy at Geelong, male Darcy at bulldogs, Dunstall at the Hawks…..should administrators be allowed to be pundits as well, yes you need to earn a dollar, but how can you remain objective and neutral? Albeit I like jimmy’s analysis I’m sure he will coach one day.

So Ben McKay's form from rounds 1-11 made Lloyd call him the recruit of the year.... when essendon were winning and playing the bottom teams in the competition.... what a coincidence!! From rounds 12-16 he's dropped right off when he comes up against tougher opposition.... what a shock!

Bombers fan here. No chamce foe the boys though. We've had our great run against the bottom half of the ladder. Now we lose games and decide who to trade/delist. Another FA, another draft pick, another preseason and then games into Reid, Hobbs, Tsatas and Caddy to build a good side in 2026. Hopefully the club isn't as deluded as some fans.

Not really, Essendon got torched by key forwards on repeat, and it meant that the undersized backs had to help each other too much and left loose opponents at ground level. It’s a reason Essendon has shown improvement this season because they’re not worried about trying to help Laverde when he’s guarding a giant.
