@WhiskyNeighbour cracked the new Ryan engen JD barrel proof well watching, like the 1792 and old forester pick you reviewed its very oak forward and brown sugar, but second sip brought some banana into the mid plate. If you end up picking one up I'll be interested in your thoughts

@@BigDave24can1 OH, thanks for the insight. I'm not a big JD fan, but then I did enjoy the two latest special JD releases so I'll certainly consider picking it up. Cheers!

Hello Jon! You brought back the hot weather from Korea. 😂 I agree with your flavour description. That 7-year-old Ben Nevis has a nice toffee and nutty flavour with gentle mossy peat in the background. I like the 4-year-old heavily pleated one too. It has a smoky and sweet citrus flavour and a nutty and peppery finish. Cheers 🥃. I hope Lynda is feeling better.

Lynda is feeling much better and without the humidty, it still does not feel like our trip. Still, great to enjoy some sunshine! The 7 year old is my favourite here. Love the interpay of light peat and heavier sherry with a distilate that is oily and a little dirty. Cheers!

Jon, the Càrn Mòr bottling of Ben Nevis was in my market, Australia, and at a killer price. But I snoozed and I losed! Never mind, because my local whisky bar got their very own 2015 Càrn Mòr bottling of similar juice - only it's a single ex-Sherry hogshead at 57.6%. Got it. It's outstanding and beautifully dirty (RIP, Big Al). Cheers and thanks as always for the dispatches from Edmonton.

I'm a huge fan of Highland peated whiskys, with anCnoc Peatheart at the top of the list. Ben Nevis isn't one I'm familiar with, though that 7 sounds good. A bit of water might benefit the younger version. Looks like you're packing some heat out there today, but cooler temps are coming. Peat weather...😉 Cheers Jon 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦

@onewomanswhisky this last bit of heat is good, but love the coolness of fall, I can't wait. You are totally right with water, really helped. Cheers!

Great review Jon! Really like the Carn Mor, bottle getting pretty low. A couple years ago Sierra Springs had a First Editions 1997 Ben Nevis refill Sherry single cask available for what I would consider a low price for a cask strength 23 year sherried BN, I ended up buying 2 of them, by far the best BN I have ever had.
@WhiskyNeighbour3 ай бұрын
That 23 cask strength sounds fantastic! Of these two the 7 year is certainly my favourite. Thanks for sharing!
