As an Asian that is in love with combat sports, i too have Asian parents that almost disowned me for pursuing that life style. They still cringe at me when im home and break out into a shadow box, they just dont understand and dont want to understand the beauty of it, its an amazing thing, its like dancing to me. There are many asian fighters coming up the ranks, Korean Super Boy (Doo Ho Choi), Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung), Ben Nguyen (Vietnamese American, now living in Australia), Li Jingliang (Chinese) & Kyoji Horiguchi (Japanese). In the past we only had Dong Hyun Kim (Korean, aka Stun Gun) and Yoshihiro Akiyama, and a few other far less popular fighters, but it looks like the Asian fighters a realizing if you want to make it, you can't stay in Asia. *Yes I know we always had fucking kickass Phillipino fighters in the boxing world and Thai fighters in the Muay Thai world, but I'm only referring to MMA. *Mixed race fighters don't count like Half Japanese half brazilian Lyota Machida and half Korean BJ Penn, since they are mixed race and represent the unique mixed race dichotomy.
