6:30 perfect example why you should reverse into a drive then drive out forward. So you avoid having an accident or a close call
@ClearviewDriving15 күн бұрын
Yeah definitely 👏
@thijsvons251014 күн бұрын
Had a case of that today. While reversing, I was checking to the right for 2 seconds and a car came speeding along a corner on my left honking at me (which he had all the right to do). I feel like I would have checked to the left before entering the road, but the honk was definitely useful. I also nearly hit a car in that same manoeuver (not my proudest few seconds).
@wrightwoodwork14 күн бұрын
@thijsvons2510 I'm guessing you didn't take the beep to heart. Also don't view the situation as you deserved a reprimand with the horn. More just its them letting you know they are there watch out. Then it will save you from making a silly mistake after like almost hitting a car. Remember no actual harm was done . Little tip if you do have to reverse out and isn't the best view peep and creep and keep checking to your left as that's where the hazard will come from . Don't be shy to lean your body forward and a bit left and that will give you a wider view to the left. If someone does turn up stop . With a bit of luck they will stop which will make the situation more safe. If they don't then don't worry. Let them go. If you are potentially going to go over the center line then about a meter before crossing start to give a bit more checks right and the occasional check left . If a person turns up from the left left don't worry about them . Its now thier responsibility to deal with the situation. They need to slow down and have a choice to stop or go behind you. . Do not go forward to get out of the way you are committed if you go forward then when you reverse out again end up in the same situation of person turns up from the left and you get out of the way and you won't ever leave. For when to turn so you dont almost hit the car wait till your shoulder is past the back of the parked vehicles . Then start to turn left or right depending which way you want to go
@thijsvons251014 күн бұрын
@@wrightwoodwork Yeah I know he meant it as a warning. If he saw I didn't react I'm sure he would have stopped. Also, the danger came from both sides. It was in a 30 kph zone, where cars came from both sides, so I had to check both sides. It was somewhat unfortunate timing that I looked the wrong way at the wrong time. And then I guess I was a bit flustered as I nearly hit the other car which was just parked. Would definitely not have come as close usually.
@wrightwoodwork14 күн бұрын
@thijsvons2510 these things happen I'm guessing you are not in the UK . A lot of observation is learning to actually look at the right points as you carry out things . If you do get beeped try to stay relaxed and you'll be good

I sure wish there are more roundabouts over here in the US. There are none in my part of the state. (except for a few inside shopping mall parking lots) Roundabouts are easier and safer at intersections, instead of 4-way stop signs.

@ClearviewDriving14 күн бұрын
Yeah they are very sensitive So you only use the top of your foot and pivot between the two!
@wrightwoodwork15 күн бұрын
If 2 lanes on approach and 2 lanes and 2 lanes for the exit you can use either lane to go ahead. This is why you don't go right from the left lane unless road markings allow and them roundabouts will be traffic controlled. As we drive on the left we use the left lane to go ahead so we are in the left lane as we exit. If the left lane is really busy. The sensible thing is to use the right as reduces volume in the left plus no point being in a queue you don't need to be unless you are going left

On the diesel and diesel V-Power, V-Power has more or less octane levels, so does it have more or less (I've not really been to Shell before) and is it the higher the octane level the better or the lower the octane level the better?
@somerandomguywastaken15 күн бұрын
Diesel doesnt have octane levels. The only difference between premium and normal diesel are cleaning additives to help shift soot and stuff. For petrol, higher octane is better, means less ethanol inside it. You get better mileage with less ethanol and it runs smoother
@unstoppable218015 күн бұрын
@@somerandomguywastaken So why did he fill up with diesel and she said the difference between normal and V-Power is the octane levels? But in that case might as well save 20p and have lower quality cleaning additives!
@somerandomguywastaken15 күн бұрын
@@unstoppable2180well simple answer is she was wrong. Only petrol has an octane rating. Diesels tend to get very sooty compared to petrols, so having some premium diesel isnt a bad shout every now and again. I reckon filling with premium diesel every 10th fill would suffice.
@unstoppable218015 күн бұрын
@@somerandomguywastaken My mum's car was juddering lots (she never uses premium fuel, and usually just fuels up at Asda or Tesco since it's usually cheaper, when it's the same price then Esso) and some diesel fuel cleaner did the job for enough time to be cheaper than using premium fuel.

@somerandomguywastaken15 күн бұрын
The difference in premium v normal in petrol is e10(normal) has more ethanol than e5 (e10 up to 10%, e5 up to 5%). More ethanol is worse, as it ignites easier which can cause pre-ignition and engine knock. Also ethanol absorbs water, so if you park up for a month or so, e10 might go bad, while e5 wont be as bad. E10 also has less mpg. So the price difference isnt actually very big at all when you factor in mpg. Premium diesel v normal diesel has 0 performance difference like petrol, its purely got maintenance features cos it has more cleaning additives to clean up soot etc. Also because of the definitions of e10 and e5, (up to..) every petrol station has slightly different ethanol ratings. For example, shells v power from my knowledge still use a 0% ethanol mix in their e5 petrol. Which is why it's usually more expensive than other e5s
