People with actual “multiple personalities” are 1) Incredibly rare (I’ve seen one in 22 years of clinical practice as a board certified psychiatrist) and 2) The component personalities are completely *unaware of one another*. The person you showed likely has Borderline Personality Disorder, and has latched onto “multiple personalities” to explain their various mood states, which often fluctuate wildly during the day. Because they lack ego strength to tie themselves together, they begin to regard each mood state as a different “person”. But clearly these personalities are aware of one another. It’s more like a maladaptive coping mechanism than a mental disorder.

U know how this is cured by totally ignoring them like they don't exist not talking to them not looking at them not giving them any attention and nature will take care of the rest, these are all attention seeking emotional ill folks who need total isolation and they will eventually die like they would in the wild

I have talked to her. She does seem to have issues remembering stuff. From what I gathered on DID it does appear to have little information on. For BPD and DID what is the main component of it. Is memory one. I have been wondering if she really does have it some confirm she has it others say no because of one thing. It may go out of your way but try talking to her and see if you draw the same conclusions. I’m truly intrigued about this and how it works. If she is faking it then I would like to know if not then I would like to continue to support those that suffer with MDs. Like I said I did chat with her a few times a year ago and it really intrigued me because the system aspect and how it works. She does disagree with the movie split and gave clearing about DID. She would be the first DID BPD I have seen and gotten to talk too if she really is one. Please let me know your full conclusion of this since I can only go off of what I have read.

@@crissyfox553 Absolutely unqualified. DID, or Dissociative Personality Disorder, often co-diagnosed with BPD, is indeed a real disorder. Patients can be aware of it, yet they are unable to refrain from doing this to themselves. It is a maladaptive coping mechanism to trauma. Which IS a form of disorder. Full stop. I've been in a relationship with someone with DID and it's no joke. They are NOT able to go back from one personality to the other. They might be aware of it, that doesn't mean that they control it. "Some people also experience 'co-consciousness' where they stay partly aware while different alters are dominant, while others may experience memory loss (dissociative amnesia) at these times." (to quote Sane.com) Both were true with my partner. She even asked me to record conversations that she would otherwise forget entirely about. She also threatened to call the police because I was holding those documents later on, and her paranoïa and manipulative alter was one of the reasons why I couldn't go on. Obviously no one in this state should be in a relationship.

I’m pretty confident that lady doesn’t have DID. One of the main signs of DID is that they have different mannerisms for each alter. It’s literally like talking to a completely different person. The only thing that changed was how fast that lady was speaking and how loudly she was speaking, both of which are consciously changed. Her actually mannerisms (ie she rubs her eye area a lot) are very similar in each clip, which is an unconscious movement, and a pretty clear indication that she is faking DID for attention

As having a relatively troubled life myself, I couldn’t imagine talking about it in the way they were. I’ve overheard these same conversations all over campus and it’s bizarre. They should visit a typical town in India, and experience what the poor men there go through + what the average woman there goes through. They’ll shut up eventually. This person at 2:22 is not dissociative...it seems people want to have DID because it looks "interesting " this is not DID. It is a for of munchausen syndrome and I am SO sick of this crap. It harms the very small percentage of people like myself to get help and fix it. It gives everyone the wrong idea... and trust me Hollywood has done enough damage on the portrayal. It is not something anyone would want to advertise, and I'm only speaking on it because it is beyond ridiculous. And yes, I speak of myself as singular. Ps, great video Ben. As usual.

The idea of completely different alters living these lives apart from each other & fronting at will is Hollywood & Soap Opera romanticism. It is also a dangerous narrative to put out there acting like it’s something ppl just live with so easily, which is not true. The sad reality is this is mostly caused by extreme trauma that caused a person to retreat into themselves in order to survive. For someone to have that many alters it’s not real.

Compassion USED to be recognizing that people with mental illness were suffering and needed help. Now what stands in for compassion dictates that society must cater to every individual's mental illness. It's really that simple. Somehow we lost sight of the harm mental illness did to the sufferer and those around them and now just celebrate it as diversity.

After researching what that meant, she instructed her HR department to trash any resume with that line on it. She has 2k employees mostly doctors, nurses, and professionals. When she has a job opening at entry level, she usually receives about 500 resumes. This is just another filter to reduce the number. On God, giving full unlimited access on social media to these people fry every last bit of my brain cells... Sometimes I feel bad about the few shortcomings that I have, however after watching this, I'm deeply grateful for my sanity
@liwendiamond92232 жыл бұрын
Now imagine the effect that full unlimited access to social media does to these people who are already quite fragile to begin with. THIS, is why you should keep your kids away from the internet until they are of age and of mental capacity to handle it. But we didn't do that. We gave everyone full access to a virtual venue that can host billions of people, opening to the doors of the biggest circus freak show of all time, and now you're seeing the results. Mental disorders are TRENDING, they are becoming popular. People want to be mentally ill, because they know they can garner clicks and likes that way. They are willing to go that far to have a chat room filled with cute emojis and supportive messages. They are that desperate for human contact and affection, which, as Shapiro suggested, is it own form of mental illness. These people lead empty lives, devoid of meaning and intimate contact with other flesh and blood human beings, and they are coping with this loneliness, this void, by seeking attention from an anonymous online crowd. But this crowd is a phantom, it's a mirage. It cannot substitute for a real circle of friends, the embrace of a spouse, or the warmth of family. You cannot use the internet as your therapist. It's a useful tool, but it has its limits and pitfalls. Those who are not sound of mind, should refrain from using it.

The editors do such a fantastic job. You can really see that the daily wire hires based on merit. Honestly the best video in the series so Far

As Ben so astutely pointed out, we have come full circle, this is what TikTok was made for, laughing at the circus freaks.

Yeah, Canada isn’t any better than America when it comes to mask policies. In fact, I think it’s much worse there. I have 5 Canadian friends and all 5 of them have said it’s like this there.

Quebec just reintroduced measures and first night they fined over 200 and arrested 1 at the protest which was more peaceful and less fiery than BLMs.

Ontario is in another lockdown, gyms are closed, no indoor dining, retail at 50%. You can't even sit to have a pizza slice or a coffee, you can't eat a slice outside in -5C degrees.

They must live in Manitoba. That bit was very atypical....at least in my neck of the woods.

I was born in Quebec, thankfully live in Florida since 1977. For the second year in a row, my cousins could not get together for Christmas. What the hell is going on up there? I think Ben is right; we should invade Canada and Make it Normal Again.

Yeah, masks are literally never ever going away here in Ontario... it's depressing.

That G note right when all the colors went muted was the most subtle reference to the emo anthem and I love it.

As someone with d.i.d , it isnt as "fun" and as "im a new alter ", or "the caretaker of the system" most people with d.i.d are undiagnosed (forever sometimes) not to be the new karen thing to do when there's no one else to scream at in public .

I told an obvious faker that I was in my late 20's and still being seen for possible DID and that they can't be diagnosed at 13. I was harassed and threatened by her followers for months.

Ben, as much as I enjoy your serious commentary, your “humor” right there in my lane as well. Humor is always a coping device for me and your use of it here against this amplified disturbed part of society reduces the stress they normally provide. I have seen you in this humor lane in several circumstances now and you are really quite funny.
