I tend to think of syncopation and funk as two different qualities; syncopation is the broader category and denotes any unexpected use of rhythm, especially through anticipation and delay, and funk as a specific style of syncopation. Fall is funky, Solar and Soli not as much.

As much as I like Ben and the band, I do prefer the 'November ' version with Aaron.
