He is underrated. People are blind. Last season we create most chances from right side one of the reason is bc of Ben White helping Saka & Odegaard. He cover midfield, wide area and cb. His workrate is unreal.

his workrate is good, but he is lumbering on the ball, too often slow and indecisive, poor 1 on 1 with wingers defensively. he can fairly easily be replaced with someone better

George going, he's such a master of the dark arts just reminds me of Ben White's smirk after he grabbed Sergino Dest's ankle when he was trying to run away against PSV. It doesn't hurt that every one keeps saying "he doesn't like football" when he said he doesn't watch football for fun when he goes home because he's there with his family instead. Like the twist on the narrative around him is a dark art in and of itself. It's so brilliant. The little kicks to the underside of boots of opposition players when they run past just to get under their skin. They way he would rile up GKs by standing right next to them and blowing on the back of their ear. If any player makes you laugh when you watch them, it has to be him. He's basically pranking people on the pitch.

Benjamin White is another class altogether in terms of holding place and power. And I’m not talking about on the pitch, but it definitely flows over. Stone cold, shows nothing, makes everyone unsure or easy in every conversation. It’s art form he has mastered. Respect!

I think arteta is slowly bringing in Defenders that can play as midfielders. White, zinchenco, rice, partey, xhaka, timber, kiwior. It's like he wants an interchangeable 8,6, lb, cb, rb. Where each player can cover those positions. I think zini, timber, and white will shift to dm, then play rice in the 8. It's really interesting. A lot of shifting would of happend had timber and zini, not been injured.

I think Arteta is looking to change formations in attack vs defence more. In attack Havertz will move to a second striker and Zin will move into a CM role. In defence, Havertz will come back to CM and Zin goes back to LB. The problem with this comes from being exposed with quick counter attacks but adding Rice to the squad stops this. At bare minimum we need time to reposition for defence and Rice enables that. At the start of last season Arsenal were doing something really interesting in that Jesus would go out from his position into attack over to the left wing where Martinelli is bringing his defender with him, this opened up space for Martinelli to run into the striker space. The right back would end up coming in to cover that which opened up Saka. These 3 players were constantly swapping over with each other so frequently that defenders had to just eventually stop marking them so closely and instead stand still in their position. This is basically what Arsenal causes in opponents now, stuns them into stagnation so now Arsenal need to break down these block positions which is artetas next challenge and I think Havertz has been brought in for that element with hold up play, late runs in the box and arial threats

i think Ben White is amazing. The only "weakness"/nitpick i could say is of his 'backfoot defending'. he reads the transition and has great anticipation which aids with his aggression. But, in scenarios where he doesnt get to be the aggressor and stop the first ball, he could struggle. For example, the Rashford goal. When the ball was played perfectly just of out his reach, he was smart enough to recognize he wasnt gonna get the interception. and when he was defending while running/facing towards his own goal, he could be beaten. he also struggled against Mitoma last season. Of course these are elite wingers so credit has to be given to them.

Ben White is a defender, who has developed a very healthy relationship with his right 8 and his right wide attacker. He has played CB and obviously is playing RB nominally, but at base level, he is a defender. And yes, his anticipation is superior to most other defenders.

Benjamin White is not underrated! You might want him to be rated more than he is. After Ramsdale he is the most expendable in the team. Not world class at anything, he is working well in our system, nothing more nothing less.

He's actualy quietly been having a bit of a mare this season in taking on his wingers defensively, it hasn't mattered because Saliba is a MOUNTAIN but there have been problems, exemplified I think by the miscommunication between him and Saliba that lead to the Rashford goal. He's probably my favorite defender to watch in our team and I've been scratching my head a little this season.

Doesn't help that any player with Flair has cooked Ben White or the fact that Ben White loves to backoff like Mustafi/David Luiz when engaging them instead of being aggressive or taking them to their outside foot. Cases such as Mitoma 3-0 Brighton loss at the Emirates, vs Rashford in the last 3 appearances, Grealish at the Etihad and recently Noa Lang. He was also quite shaky vs Zaha at Selhurst Park last season opening premier league fixture but he had Saliba next to him who produced a masterclass premier league debut.

He isn't underrated at all. At the same time, he isn't a natural right back and gets turned inside out against the best wingers in the world. For me, that area is the biggest weakness of the team as it stands.

Oh, now he must to defend against isolated wingers?) For some reason Saka gets doubled-trippled, but White must stop a winger on his own, this is what you're saying?) Remember that it's system who defends, not individuality. And our system demands many attacking numbers. What defenders need to do facing counter-attack is to detain opposition till rest of the team will arrive helping.
