It was explained in another video on how Ben joined. But, he’s been voicing Wallace for over 12 years now on smaller projects, games, adverts etc that Salis didn’t want or couldn’t do. He did a fantastic job on this feature film.

Peter Sallis will never be forgotten. But Ben Whitehead did a fantastic job and you can definitely tell he was incredibly respectful. He still wanted to do the character justice while not replacing what was originally there. Hats off to him. It can’t have been easy.

It's a smoother voice, and doesn't have as many ad libs. But I think its less of a change between the two actors than there is between the same actor in youth vs decades later (see: The Simpsons)

iirc he did some scratch audio for matter of loaf and death too before peter came in to do it. on top of that the bbc one ident they used around the time loaf and death came out seems to switch between both peter and ben's voices. oh yeah he also voiced hutch in the curse of the were rabbit game

Nobody will be good as Peter Sallis but Ben has done it really well. It understandably why they have not done a film in a while after Peter pass away because they where not sure if they can do it without him. This was Bens first film as Wallace. It safe now they can do more film of Wallace and Gromit. Even can do the next film with Feathers returning again to seek revenge on them.

There are some parts of the movie where I feel his delivery and projection could have been a bit more, the "GROMIT!" at the climax being one, but for who he had to replace, Ben did such a fantastic job that I was completely lost in the Wallace voice. There wasn't any point where I was pulled out and went, "This isn't Wallace, this is an impersonator!". I do hope he stays on for the next W&G project!
