Id personally would love to see him better his defensive awareness against counterpunchers because clearly that is not on a champion level right now. He is very vast and agile for the weight, I think he would be a great puncher swarmer if he reduced the showboating in half. He is similar to Josh Kelly, and without big adjustments he will be just a prospect like him.

Any punch can be countered. Every shot you take can be countered, the point is that some are better risks than others. My point is that the fighter took more chances when his opponent has his hands up than he did when his hands were down. That doesn’t mean that those can’t be countered, that’s overly obvious.

As much as many didn’t, I loved watching Naz back in the day - I mean the balls to head flip the top rope on the way in and weight he possessed in either hand, makes me appreciate a genuine one of a kind in his day. Watching Whittaker now as much as it has novelty value, just takes me back to those days - Naz was on another level. His hands were shot (and arguably so was he) by the time Barrera schooled him, but even haters have to agree he was amazing to watch. Yet another ‘if only’ boxing timing match up missed opportunity going after all those WBO mandatories

the top of the head stuff i get - Willings is bending down in a vulnerable position knowing where Ben can't reach knowing safe positions as per the rules. fair play, not technically illegal. neither is playfully tapping his head. I get that eg 5:44. That's a ridiculous position to shell into and don't blame ben for wanting him to cut it out and embarrassing him a bit over it seems fair to me. especially bc ben keeps missing from that angle and willings is rolling that right hand shot beautifully retreating to that position. but the worrying signs are at 6:11 overcompensating AFTER he gets clipped. no drunken master does that recovering from a shot...they do it avoiding the shot. or 7:41 he tends to get overzealous on the ropes and tunnel visions -normally dropping his right hand with someone shelled up. the same shot is open at 4:40 willings clocks it & then next time he's there he clips him at 7:41. imagine if that was like a zach parker -god forbid a yarde or smith. fair play to willings. further proving that, ben gets caught clean at 5:53 and does the overcompensation thing again after the first shot eating the second shot to act unbothered. not going to get away with that against a world fighter. did his job, that's all that matters. and willings is a very fun fight to watch ive never watched one of his full matches. so ben is doing something right and good performance from leon as well.

Leon's chin made Ben's punches look like paper. I hope Leon doesn't suffer later from the amount he absorbed

Whittaker has bundles of personality, exactly what the boxing scene needs, he is showing the young boxers how fast you can rise up the ranks if you can showcase your true personality and entertain the public.. however this fight proved he has much to learn as a Pro because he was too desperate countless times during this fight to get the KO (probably due to the overnight success and headlines he had from his prior fight), and in being desperate to get the KO, he ended up eating countless unnecessary shots from a guy who seems levels below skill for skill. I can see him getting a huge awakening in the very near future, I think it may just be what he needs.. reminds me of Josh Kelly biting off more than he could chew too quickly into his career, due to his skills going viral overnight. Hope I am wrong, I want to see Ben go all the way, just as I did Josh Kelly. He puts bums on seats.

I hope he gets another chance, Ben Whitaker is an outstanding guy, probably a future champion, but the boy in blue shorts is great, congratulations, Leon keeps fighting

whittaker got no power he was landing right hands and it did nothing to the opponent but the speed and atheleticism is there for sure against top competition ben cant be showboating or he will get stopped especially against a big puncher

He could’ve knocked this guy out if he would’ve followed up on some of those right hands but he’s too focused on showboating. You do have a point though idk how he fares against someone his level

@@dxrkbilly7511 Bollocks if he could've KO'd him he would. Leon is a 23yo kid who took this fight on 9 days notice & somehow held his own in there lol, the guys literally a PT & trainee plumber full time
