To be fair, that door had a pull handle on it. The subway designers need to learn proper door etiquette. Proper door etiquette: push doors have a flat push bar on them while pull doors have a handle, usually square shaped. This is a design convention used to make doors intuitive to use in public spaces.

I absolutely love how the ghosts in the games aren’t just the same “please help us” stereotype giving vague clues and hints to the story instead of just telling the main character what happened and what to do. Instead, they’re just as confused as you are and follow you around harmlessly. It really helps make them feel real.

No way, it's that game that was published by that one team of developers that made Going Under and Another Crab's Treasure! And it's being talked about for 30 minutes, what a steal! in the puzzle to get Jessica's disc, it's not actually trial and error, at least not fully. given that your expected to do multiple playthroughs, you can see that the correct symbols for the puzzle is the same symbol on Jessica's shirt. if you dont want to brute force to the correct answer, your normally expected to use that knowledge for the second go-around

I actually really like the bad ending! The tension building as the menacing figure approaches, only to give some relief as it's revealed to not be some kind of monster, but a perfectly ordinary, friendly looking person, and then the horror resurfacing as she keeps approaching, because _she's still the one who killed all of those kids_ (and Benny) and she has you _cornered._ Then she lays a heavy hand on you head, there's a pause, then bam! Abrupt end. It's jarring, it's tense, it's pretty scary! Caught me off guard the first time I saw that. Leaving the murder up to the imagination I think is both the scariest way to do it (could you imagine seeing it in that artstyle? It's way too cute for it to work) and the most tasteful.

yeah i agree. i actually had this game wishlisted on steam since before it came out i believe, only to see the really mixed reviews from the less than stellar “puzzle” sections which made me skip picking it up. seeing the game play out, i think that was the right decision for me to make but i think the bad ending is really well executed for the artist’s style! gore isn’t necessary to make something uneasy or scary, and i think leaving it unclear makes it interesting because you want to assume the stalker is responsible for all of the missing people but also… could just be a coincidence? leaves it open for interpretation! (maybe everyone just gave themself a heart attack or ran headfirst into these dangerous carts out of fear of being stalked lol)

I would have to disagree about the bad ending being lackluster i won't say it's good but at least it's scary the entire game you have been facing supernatural things ghosts and monsters and at the very end the biggest threat so far turns out to be just a normal persons who even looks somewhat friendly yet its implied that this person murderd several children and who knows what else they possibly and now that very dangerous person is close enough to have thier hand on liz's shoulder with no way to escape which is a very terrifying position to be in the abrupt ending even adds to the horror in fact showing any conclusion would probably diminish the inherent horror in it For the other endings i have a theory that due to the supernatural nature of the events some time travel shenanigans occurs liz can't get the letter without reaching the bad ending meaning the letter went back in time and then the key is sent back to the very start and the ghosts possibly remember being helped between cycles which is why you don't need to repeat the ones already helped and in the good ending they all remember being helped in overcoming thier mental problems and so they helped thier savior and confronted the cause of thier death at the same time and when the mundane horror meats the supernatural one the result is well let's just say messy

See, this is the perfect kinda game for theorists (like Game Theory, and the like). Personally, I think the events of the game are taking place canonically within A VIDEO GAME. If you think about the weird letter-carrying-over thing to reunite the twins (and the cutscene that results), it seems that there is a connection between video games and this universe being drawn here. The world itself turns into a low-poly video game, and the letter is straight-up obtained from the game the kid was playing. I think the key at the near-end of the good ending was carried over in Cassandra's "Inventory". Perhaps Liz dying is a fail point or "game over" for Cassandra's objective, leading the GAME to respawn at Cassandra's last checkpoint (being the start of her entire sequence), with the key carrying over the respawn. This isn't out of the question, because the letter was also carried over through the bad ending (LIZ's fail-point or "game over"). This caused Cassandra to have the key and the memory of what happened during the previous save/run, and be able to escape. Other than that, Liz did the same helping-all-the-spirits thing she did before in this run of the game as well, just not having to deal with Cassandra's body or the locked door, since she already opened the door and didn't die, meaning the spirits still received help from Liz, and decided to help her and Cassandra out in the good ending. As for the secret ending, while it gives more in-universe story/context to the stalker's motives, I feel it also helps support the "the universe is the game itself" theory. The skull-masked ghost only appears when the COMPUTER clock that the GAME is RUNNING ON is set to midnight. Perhaps he's only strong enough to sustain a visible form when it's midnight, because of ghostly things, but either way it shows another direct correlation between computers, computer games, and this universe. As for timeline stuff, it seems the murders happened all in one day, aside from the day Liz and Cassandra board (as there are missing signs up for the kids originally murdered). This means that Cassandra would've boarded first, then Liz in the same day. Cassandra would've been killed probably only a matter of minutes/hours before Liz showed up, making it possible for them to leave the subway together (Cassandra first, then Liz) in the good ending. Wow that was a mouthful.

I understand the frustration with the puzzles, but I feel like 90% of puzzles require some sort of trial and error in order to solve them. Portal, for example, is filled to the brim with puzzles. The puzzles themselves require the logic of the game's mechanics in order to progress--however, the player still requires to mess around a bit in order to find the logical solution (trial and error). I feel like the need to mess around to find the solution is the equivalent to what a puzzle is.
