Hi! Thanks for playing and I'm happy you guys enjoyed the trilogy! ❤ I'm pretty sure the text scrolling bug in DE2 was caused by Newgrounds replacement Flash player - to be honest I'm surprised the games work so well there at all. Anyway, you might be interested in trying the 4th game in the series - like your viewers already mentioned - or one of the other games I've made, like a strategy card game Waterworks! - and check out my upcoming point and click Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken

I LOVED the Don’t Escape franchise, especially the fourth game. The characters on that one live in my head time to time and the story was just so good. These games are available on Steam aswell for $4. Theres no new content but in how Don't Escape 2 had some errors with the text it might have been fixed in the Steam version alongside many other bug fixes. There is also Don't Escape 4 which I'm surprised was never covered on this video, perhaps in another video due to how LARGE this game is. Like seriously, it was long enough for Markiplier to make around 7 episodes for. This is also on Steam for $15, and don't be discouraged by the price as this game is HUGE. Theres even a "Deep Sleep" trilogy that is connected to these games made by the same developer. Great video, this game series is amazing.

I remember playing games with similar mechanics on cool math games when I was younger, and I immediately wanted to play these. When you said that the 2nd and 3rd were timed I was scared I wouldn't be able to play all of them because real life timers stress me out so much I just won't play the game, but the time going down only after you complete a task makes me feel so much better about it. I'm a huge fan of puzzle games and will absolutely be playing these when I get the chance.

You actually missed something big in don't escape 2: you can dig a hole outside the abandoned building using the shovel. Doing so lets you fill it with spikes to kill extra zombies beyond the regular spikes, OR drop Jeremy and the pastor into the pit; condemming them but drawing the ire of lots of zombies. It's not necassary for the best ending, but it can make getting it easier if you're strapped for time also there's a fourth don't escape game on steam you could try, it's a post apocalypse game!

I like how each entry in the trilogy is more technologically advanced then the last, also like the thematic similarities between the first and last entries, both have you be affected by outside forced that motivate you to kill others and trying to contain yourself to prevent that, but the astronaut unlike the were wolf failed to prevent those deaths so they take their life to prevent further deaths, and the middle/zombie guy mainly recruited other to prevent their death.

I absolutely love Don't Escape since it helped inspire my whole ideology of "Social Management" specifically the part where if you put two people in a room then eventually one will consider themselves a threat and either A. indulge in that assumption and physically harm the other person or B. attempt to distance themselves so they do not harm the other person until they can't hold out any longer and Scenario A happens.

Great retrospective on one of my favourite flash series! Always like seeing how people solve these, particularly the second with how much variety in outcomes there are. Also, 8:42, Two things! 1. UK is not the only place to do this, Canada and many other European countries do this as well (Scriptwelder is Polish himself, not British) so it's not strictly a British thing 2. But also, as using a coin to get cart/trolley is really uncommon in places like the US it would be rather obtuse for most players from the US to figure out, so the coin is actually one of two solutions to get the cart. The other solution is to simply use the metal cutter from outside the starting house to cut the chain. In other words, regardless of where you're from, even if you've never heard of a cart/trolley having a coin slot, there's at least one solution that should be intuitive, which I think is neat game design.

The other thing I like about the 2nd game is there are clever ways to get yourself and all your friends out of there alive, but if you're only concerned with yourself, you can dig a big pit and then push your new friends in there and use them as bait for a surprisingly easy escape for yourself if you're willing to sacrifice others. I feel like you might enjoy the horror escape games from rusty lake! (I say just rusty lake in general because all of the games follow one story line about the lake, and they all work together to advance the plot.) they’ve been making games for quite some time and even had a short live action film made for one of their recent games, but so little people seem to know about this dark hidden gem. I personally love the cube escape collection, which was a bundle of nine short escape rooms that unpack a crime scene investors journey through the lake after finding it out through his job. That one’s even free on the App Store! Thank you for always making such fun videos on topics I would have never heard about.

One little detail I *love* about DE3 is that when you're reviewing the security camera footage, you have to do a little point-and-click to advance the footage, like having to click on the fuel tank and then the man with the plasma torch to see the killer smash his head in - it's likely a small hint towards the endgame reveal!

The crystals in the third game are a reference to another game made by the same developer, scriptwelder, called Primal Sands, where your ship (the one the crew in DE3 finds) crashes on an alien planet, and you have to defend it while repairing the ship. The aliens drop those crystals when killed, and they act as the money of that game.

Hey just so you know, don’t escape four is a masterpiece that took everything great about the 2nd game and expanded on it, with an extended storyline and great plot. I would love to see you make a video on it!

I remember these!! I used to play stuff like this and the Henry stickman games every day after school, they always gave me this strange feeling as I played them. Like a unique sort of isolation that doesn't quite feel lonely, it's a specific feeling I would always get from these late 2000's - early 2010's kinds of flash games.

Love this video, so glad you enjoyed these games. Scriptwelder is such an inspiration and his Deep Sleep series and Don't Escape series are just great in terms of aesthetics, mechanics and creativity

It's always interesting to see how different people go through a puzzle, especially when there are multiple ways to go The big example is part 3. I watched Mark play and didn't know that tiny crystal outside the ship was actually interactable. I just thought it was part of the story

There’s a 4th game too, which is much more story-based and has multiple levels that change each time you play.

Even though it probably wasn't planned, I'd like to believe that those three games were a test of different mechanics that ended up resulting in the fourth entree of the series with a little of all titles in it from the interacting with your own character/friends, the timer with every little action, and interacting with bits of the environment wether it gives a new item or unlocks a new path

OMG more friends :D Also that bit from the third game where you tried to stab the corpse is exactly the type of interaction I’d have with my friends Immaculate vibes sir ☕️✨ Also also maybe the attempted stabbing was just foreshadowing for the game lol

These games were some of my favorite when I was younger, It's great to see that they're getting the appreciation they deserve. You should check out the deep sleep games, they're by the same person and have a really creepy vibe that I absolutely love.

Scripwelder really was amazing and creative when he made these games, and I still love the fully tied in story, so much planning and foresight spanning YEARS in advance! I suggest watching 2 Left Thumbs video about the fully connected story, but obviously spoiler warnings.
