@Ben Bergeron ... the "make it perfect" "just start" segment is SPOT ON and so profound. Prior to CrossFit, though, I thought I would die if I failed. I was so afraid of failure and stuck in perfectionism that I would not start something if I didn't think I could do it perfectly. Lifting weights taught me that without failure, you can't achieve your maximum potential. Thank you for another great episode.

I love the 'Don't watch the news'. I haven't watched the news in YEARS. It is negative and just like you said, we cannot control what's going on with it. I just can't handle the negativity from it.

Love every idea here. Great self improvement ideas that I will certainly take to heart. I do however, wish that #5 read more like "Learn to consume information" or "Learn to Communicate with People". Much of what you say about news as entertainment is true, and has led us to believe in this combat style of communication when it comes to talking about subjects of importance outside of our immediate life. We become people who wait to talk rather than listen to understand. We believe that if our pile of evidence is larger than the pile of the person we are talking to then we "win" the conversation. This has led us to a terrible place but to abandon the consumption of information not directly important to us can be very dangerous long term. In the short term it is very easy to simply make global statements about "the news" or "politics", and apply negative characteristics that although true to varying degrees, is an oversimplification of a complex problem. You may increase happiness and focus now by avoiding the news, or conversation about controversial topics, but the long term impact of lack of information, division between groups can be immense. Media literacy and productive conversation practices are things that I struggle with every day, but are major mental goals of mine. It is of course important to focus on what you can control, but is it not also important to focus on our collective health as well? Perhaps this could be summed up as "Find a balance between 'I' and 'We'".

Great episode as usual, thanks for the content, it really helps. Can you guys please consider doing a podcast focused on how to peak for the games? how Ben does it with his athletes and the process involved in it, like, how to make sure you are not peaking at the wrong time. How does training and the intensity plays a roll here. Do you use Heart rate monitoring for this, etc. Hope you guys consider it.I'm incredibly curious for myself and would love to learn more about it. Thank you ❤️

The news is a tricky one. If you're addicted to news like I am, stay off social media! I spend less time with news if I watch it on TV or listen to it on a podcast. I always feel obligated with leaving a comment if it's on social media and if an argument breaks out, it'll waste the rest of my day.

Isn't this list by itself passing judgement? Also, why shouldn't people watch news? True, in many cases you cannot influence the outcome, but why shouldn't I be informed? The more accurate description maybe should be "be more critical and selective of what's on the news". "Don't read emails until noon" ?? Really? I work in tech - email is part of my life. Moreover, few of the most successful tech execs advise to deal with emails first thing in the morning to free the rest of the day to doing stuff.
