We can't really answer your question as we only use one or two types of glues which are sourced from a local shoe-part supplier here. You may inquire your local supplier.

Might have been what the client asked for. It did look like it was cleaned with acetone first. A lot of Red Wing people enjoy a patina and don't want that compromised. They may have wanted a shine vs oil and acetone would have stripped out the remaining oils in the leather to allow it to be impregnated by a pigmented cream. Of course this all relies that is what the client wants and I could be completely off in thinking that. Just knowing some guys who use and abuse their Red Wing's they love that. Personally I try to keep my boots in better shape. But it still will patina overtime regardless. Just a bit slower.
