Red Wing Classic Moc Refurbishment | Complete Boot Makeover

This pair of Red Wing Classic Mocs was mailed to us for repair. These boots were in relatively rough shape and definitely needed some love. After a complete resole and some thorough conditioning, this pair of Red Wing boots is good to go. Time for another restoration!

After watching all of the videos that these gentlemen have produced, and seeing the care and attention that they put into their restorations, I decided to check out their line of sandals. I am happy to report that the choice of materials and craftmanship that they have displayed in their videos is highly evident in their sandals. I love Daniel Craig as James Bond too. To me, he was the first Bond since Sean Connery who looked physically strong enough to do the stunts. All the others looked good in a tux, but were just unbelievable when it came to the fights. And then, Connery and Craig also looked good in a tuxedo… the whole package!🐝❤️🤗

Tbf a tux is supposed to make you look good. Not the inverse. But they both definitely had the physicality needed for the close quarters fights. Maybe why 90s bond was gadgets and judo chops.

@@RaphYkun All the Bonds looked good in a tux, but only Craig and Connery could pull off the fights! Yeah, maybe that’s why there were so many gismos for all the others. They needed the props to be even somewhat believable in the fights.

The conditioning and cleaning of the uppers makes a world of difference to these! Top-notch work. guys! Incidentally, I've been a 007 fan for years, and I think that Daniel Craig has left some very big shoes to fill - his work was incredible!

Love this makeover! I have a couple pairs of the Roughneck's with the Vibram sole and I'm really happy with them. I also have the christies on a pair of Thorogood. I just prefer the classic vibram lug style OTHER THAN being in Arizona, the landscaping rocks in my front yard are the right size to constantly get embedded into the lug treads, so I'm always picking them out. haha.

I live in the UK so we get fed James Bond (and usually Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks) EVERY Christmas and Easter on the television. My favourite Bond was Timothy Dalton. I felt his Bond very different than we'd seen before.

I make puppets at home as a hobby, and use some of the same glues and materials you use. I made masks during the pandemic in my shop last year, and I haven't been able to go into it since last year; it brought up memories when I did, so I've stayed out of there. Watching your craft, the care you put into your work, the quality of it, something about this video moved me to go in there, clean it up, and start working again. Good morning guys. The new soles definitely give these moc toe boots a different look and as you said will last a lot longer than new Cristy soles would. I also like the fact that you left the leather on the heel and mid sole natural instead of staining it black. It gives the boot a more rugged look imo. Have a great weekend.

Connery and Dalton who was much closer to Fleming's book character: ie grinding teeth, worn down, etc. I have a pair of 1970s Sears and Roebuck mocs that my cobbler replaced with Vibram lug soles. Only $64, but he did not replace the midsole, just glued on the soles.

But back to the boots, I have never been interested in moc toes, primarily due to the cristy crepe soles. But really diggin' those mocs with the lug soles. Been listening to all the James Bond audiobooks lately (Casino Royale, Dr. No, etc.). Quite enjoyable. I do feel that the movies have expanded the universe of intrigue for James Bond. The world feel a little smaller in the books.

I definitely love 007. I have actually seen all of the Sean Connery films during their original releases in theaters. I own a pair Red Wing Sawmill, which have the same Vibram lug sole. I loved Goldfinger, which was the second Bond film. That was the one with Sean Connery and the Aston Martin with all the weapons. It came out in '64. All of us Americans were fascinated with all the high-tech stuff, real and fantasized. Too cool for school. We thrilled at all the new ideas. They've made good Bond films since that one, but none have had the impact on me like that first one. And I bet a lot of other old farts feel the same. I remember the actual Aston Martin they used in the movie was for sale at a nearby sports-car dealership about 30 years ago. It had some of the weapons you saw in the movie still installed in it: the oil slick, the ejector seat, etc. But I don't know about the machine guns. I think they'd be a little illegal.
