I just finished the router table and lift, It's perfect for my shop. I used 3/4 plywood for the top to add a miter track. I noticed tightening the wing nuts on the fence lifted it back slightly so it was a bit our of square, i just added some masking tape along the top inside part of the fence to make it square. The plans were awesome and easy to follow, just take your time and do each part well. I highly recommend making John's belt and disc sander first, or buying one. Helps when making the round top inserts, the wheel handle, etc.

I'm just finishing this build up. The plans are excellent. I wish I could build everything from plans like this. Real satisfying process. It's a perfect, solid housing for the router lift. Ended up going with 32 inch wide top to fit incra miter track, Used 3/4 Arouca plywood for box, 3/4 mdf for top and fence because that's what I had. The table is level and solid and the lift goes high enough above 3/4 top to remove bits.

Great idea John. Yeah, as an electrician I try to avoid metal boxes , just for the fact that you don't have to ground plastic, (one less step).

Very nice, John. I really like this table and lift design. I have a very similar fence, and found dust collection works much better for me when the sliding fences are back beveled 45 degrees on the ends closest to the bit. It seems to help direct the chips into the collection box a little easier rather than them bounce off the blunt square ends. Especially on bits with a heavier profile. IMHO, of course.

Love it John - one of your best projects IMO. Would you consider bundling the table build and lift plans together for maybe $15-17? It’s not the bundle discount as much as the hassle buying them individually.

Hey John, I'm on the fence whether to build a router table on my tablesaw right side table or desktop router table. What made you decide to build a desktop table and get rid of the tablesaw router setup? Just portability? Or was there some issues with router on tablesaw?
