I notice you sat it in a cup 4:00 . When would you want to anneal it in a kiln versus let it sit out?
@Jonjuice711
@Jonjuice711 9 жыл бұрын
Matt J I just began, but I would assume you want to anneal it after its been worked a few times. Plus he wasnt raging on that so it probably didnt get too hot. I would anneal it in the flame before working with it though.

I love the bench tricks. I just used one of your techniques to break off some crack tubing. I just bought a couple set of rollers. I use some heavy tubing for my work and the tubing is too heavy for me to hold and pull points. I saw a video where a this guy was using the rollers kinda like a laid (SP?). This should take the weight off my arms and shoulders. Now I have the rollers but I cant find the video. Do you or anyone else have some knowledge about how to use rollers ??

in my experience if you dont have gear like torch or kiln or tools its better to go watch and try some simple things like jewelerys or pendants basically small solid work then you can tell if you like it and want to try more. if you like it its like a drug you want more input and at that point your gonna need your own gear.

This is a very useful process. Making blanks is a stepping stone to flameworking. It's just like the Ollie with skateboarding!

Brandon Damopoulos Pulling points and shaping a pipe is one of the only things I was ever instructed on, However I learned how to pull a point and center it all in one motion. I no longer pull points for blanks but it was a very cool and useful technique, also double point pulling. I think I save a bit of glass by closing the bottom and punting up with a tube. the pulled points can be used for rack and raking but at times can make bubbles if the rake is wrong which can be more time to take bubbles out. Some times for inside out if I dont have a larger 42 thin wall I will pull a point with a 32 heavy wall or similar mostly because it can be a bit more forgiving when laying lines and I have to collapse and work the lines in more it depends on what kind of day it is, if im popping out inside out fast then a hallow punty is all I need, that weld can sometimes shock if I dont watch it
