Sweet! I can relate a bit as I had paint work stacking up so I preshaded & finished full paint etc on a 48th B25 in N Africa colors & a old Monogram B26 in OD (flak bait). Both came out nicely but certainty my longest airbrush sessions ever!😅

Gday Chris, now that's the way to build, multiple kits in a row. Its the best way to maximize time and materials . Before my sabbatical I challenged myself with a ten kit build and had a blast. Getting up to speed is coming along. For future and the fact that these limited edition kits go quickly I can't get away from buying some for when I feel comfortable skill wise. However, for the first time in my vintage years I actually scared myself with a recently purchased kit - the limited edition dual combo BF109F -2 & Bf109F- 4, Wundershone Neue Maschinen from Eduard. 1/72 scale. We're talking incredible detail AND PHOTO ECTHED PARTS, even for the cockpit and I can't even get my thumbs in there :-) I might as well have written Rolex watch company and ordered the parts for watch to put together . There's the old saying but the parts to a watch on a tree stump in the middle of the jungle, come back in a million years and you will find a watch. In this case I'll just put the box on a stump :-) Always a treasure to see the master at work. Know you will bring some ribbons home, Hey to family , critters and Penny, Cheers, Bob.

Thanks Bob - hopefully there's method to my madness! Just remember, not going for gongs and ribbons, it frees you up wanting to get the perfect finish, I'm basically creating my own club display of inflight stuff to show off!

There’s a lot of time saved by building several kits at the same time - since most cockpits fall under the same color schemes. I did this once with a couple of Tie fighters, but haven’t since - I get depressed when I see an unfinished kit sitting there, calling out my name, beckoning me to finish it…. On an unrelated thread, the Revel Rafael is a really good kit - you’d swear it wasn’t a Revel kit: until you see some tell tale Revel trademarks - Flash and inconsistent depth on their panel lines. You’ll enjoy that kit!
@beckersmodels
@beckersmodels Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tex - yeah that Rafale looks fairly good I've pre assembled almost all the parts - that's why its in the queue! We'll see however...havent had much luck with Revell and those stashed unstarted Revell kits may go the same way as my Airfix and Italeri - to the dumpster!

G'day Chris, I didn't find that confusing at all. I do a bit of that 'kit-jumping', mostly because I get a little bored with certain tasks, my mitts get shaky, or then I realise I'm still waiting on some aftermarket bits, so those kits go back to the 'Not Ready Room'. You may already have a video of this but I'd dearly like to see a walkthrough of your latest and the rest of your completed builds, with a special emphasis on how you pose your models in flight. I know I'd like to do more in flight models but I need some inspiration from the 'Air Boss' at 'Becker's Flying Circus' 😉 I don't think I'm ready to see a lot of aircraft suspended from your ceilings with fine fishing line. Cripes, if I did that it wouldn't be pretty... I sometimes have trouble keeping my equilibrium while standing still on the floor! My GP says I shouldn't raise both my arms above the level of my heart! Lest I faint. 😟 (Good to know he thinks I still have one). Thanks again for the tips on who makes acceptable pilot figures. I've done some extensive web searches and I'm expecting my new squadron members being 'posted in' ASAP Cheers, mate! Bill H.

Gday Bill - definitely will be doing a walkthrough when these are finished, and I do intend on showing the inflight mods in particular. Ive been planning on doing a series of YT videos on exactly that, which will be my focus after I get back from my holiday in September....cheers Chris

Hi Chris, what's the clamp you're using to hole the Spit seat? I love the T72 turret model, that's what I call different. You are not the only one to have model production line, I once had about 10 warships in build at the same time, several cruisers and destroyers. Love your vids, always something useful. I look forward to seeing how you do the shimmer prop, I've never managed it so far.

Hi Chris, loved the "better dead than red" motif at the end of the clip. With regards to Zvezda purchases before all this other stuff happened, I can't exactly paint the Star Destroyer in Ukrainian colours but I can buy Ukrainian decals for the 1/48 Felon that I have stashed. Any recommendations on where I could buy Cartograf decals to convert it to "Ukrainian captured?"

Give Foxbot a look, they produce plenty of UA related decals and masks for their digital schemes and they're high quality, I've used them on several projects.

I'm really just a newbie. How do you swap out paints quickly from your airbrush and how do you not waste too much paint?
@beckersmodels
@beckersmodels Жыл бұрын
Check out my "how to spray Tamiya" paint video. In a nutshell I use a pipette to transfer from an open bottle of MRP or SMS - which dont need thinning, and by experience know how much to put in. If there's any leftover I sometimes put it back but usually Im having to top up as I run out. The only paint i "waste" is gloss - you have to make sure you have heaps at hand when applying gloss coats. I simply flush with a little squirt of hardware store lacquer thinner in between colours, take about 30 seconds to squirt some in, blow it out, wipe the inside of the cup with paper towel, put in a drop or two more and blow it empty again, then use that pipette to start filling with the new paint. I exclusively use lacquers - even with the Tamiya acrylics (which are alcohol based) and I just mix them on the fly in little tattoo ink cups. Hope that helps!
