This video is relatively short, because I didn't use PE part and rigging because of client's request.
And I am sorry that I didn't do voice over, I just have no time recently.
Kit list
1/200 Yamato (Nichimo)
1/200 Battleship Yamato Central Structure Outlying Facilities X2 (Fujimi)
1/200 Battleship Yamato Central Structure (Fujimi)

I'm sooo excited for the next tirpitz video! Have you read "the knight's gambit" by Scott ward? It's an alternate history novel about tirpitz attacking an arctic convoy in 1942, and quite well written, without bias

Question. how much did that kit cost? I searched for a 1/200 scale Yamato and they're selling individual sections on eBay for up to $100.00. They had a complete Nichimo kit going for $785.

No doubt. And i think of the days in my childhood trying to put together little Revel model kits of ships and planes, getting parts all gummy and melted with excess glue, paint jobs that looked like they were done by a klutzy 10-year old (probably cuz they were). Heh, good times. Much different level here, this guy is a god among modelers.

My husband has this kit, still in the box and unassembled. He purchased it in 1985 while it was on sale for $200. One of these days it will bet built along with the Carriers Enterprise and Nimitz (1/350 scales).

Exceptional build, I can tell that this model is up to date, from what was discovered on Musashi's wreck, in 2015. With the addition of the map cabin, in front of the main 15.5 m rangefinder, on top of the bridge. Take care, and all the best.

I found out about this kit late last year, so I started prepping to build one of my own. And I have enough reference pics of Yamato from a paper I wrote on it for one of my college history classes that I thought I would go one step further and etch in all the panel lines for every part of the ship, including the tower and everything. Make it HYPER detailed!

The hull parts from a Fujimi full-hull Yamato kit fits very well to the waterline Tamaya Shinano in 1/700 scale. You can even sell the rest of the Fujimi Yamato kit as a waterline model. Worked for me.

There is another option:Glow 2B brand or Monochrome Brand,both are 1945 Yamato Configuration in 1/200 scale, the expectation of quality please refer to Trumpeter, as they just Trumpeter designed, produced and sell under another brand name since Yamato is a special ship probably represent IJN most and Trumpeter is Chinese company.

I remember seeing that kit in my favorite hobby shop around 1970. It was on the shelf behind the counter. The owner would bring it down and show the boxed model. It was gigantic and the box art was worthy of framing. It finally sold but i never got to see it built. I hope that person did as good a job as you.

Great work my friend. An alternative to packing tape for holding parts in tight.. Use a narrow or wide ribbon tied in a loop around the area to be adjusted or compressed and place a pencil inside the loop twisting it to close and tighten the loop around the parts being fitted. When compressed to the desired adjustment, rubber band the pencil in place until dried up. Very clean, micro adjustments are easy and release is no sweat, no tape glue, no mess. I've tightened up large piles of construction lumber with synthetic straps down to small model fits with ribbon... flawless method and super clean. You can slip in small pieces beneath the ribbon to make micro on spot adjustments and fits. The varied set up and uses in this method are endless. Tough to explain. Thanks for showing us your great work.

I'm very glad I watched this video. Not only for watching you work but it also prepared me for what to expect in my own 1/200 Nichimo kit, especially with getting the third deck plate to fit to the hull. Superglue and clamps did the trick. I painted my version with the Leyte Gulf appearance, including blackening the wood deck. Great work and thank you for the upload. Take care.

I was given one of these kits about 15 years ago. I'm hoping to retire soon and begin building it. The mechanicals are missing and I'll have to go over everything to see if I have the parts needed to at least complete the model, even if it doesn't have the electronics. Thank you for the video. It's helpful to see a master at work. I haven't built a model in a while, so I'll probably practice on something easier. I have a B-17 model to do. My father was a mechanic on one during WWII. Thanks again.

I discovered a new thing... UV curing glue. You apply it and expose it to a small UV light, and in a few seconds it has cured. It's not for every situation, but you have parts that need to be drawn together or gaps filled, it's great. While Yamoto didn't fire any shots in anger, her sister ship sure did. As usual, a great video with a wonderful sound track.
@Nightdare

"While Yamato didn't fire any shots in anger,..." Well, actually jingles,... At the Battle off Samar, the Yamato was part of Kurita's center force and engaged the light carriers and the escorts of Taffy 3 Apparently being the ship to sink CVE Gambier Bay
@andrewgillis3073
@andrewgillis3073 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nightdare this has been hotly debated by navel historians. Personally I think the Yamato fired a lot of AAA, and given the range of it’s main guns, probably fired first in the battle. CVE Gambier Bay was considered a split credit, shared between two ships. The difference seems to down to whose account you take as gospel. American sources credit the Cruiser Chikuma and Kongo. The question of why Kurita withdrew his forces has never been answered. Also, Jingles?

@@andrewgillis3073 But the fact remains that Yamato did fire her guns in anger at least once
@andrewgillis3073
@andrewgillis3073 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nightdare I happen to agree. I wonder how it became established ‘fact’ that she never did. As well as engaging Taffy 3, all her secondary guns were certainly active on April 7th when she was sunk. Does anyone have any idea how this ‘fact’ became so entrenched?
