So those Mack truck kits are fantastic. Doesn’t matter which version you get, they build up awesome. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a tandem Mack AC but that’s a really cool idea. Look forward to seeing how you tackle it!! That reference photo of the real tandem chain drive is really cool too.

Love the paint on the deck, and I’ll be interested in seeing how you solve the drive issue. I just picked up the repop of the Mack logger last weekend. Of course, now that I never see the others, I’d like to get them.

They pop up pretty often on eBay for pretty cheap. I scored a deal on a few built kits I’m using for parts. I wouldn’t mind building another one after this 👍

Great update! I'd go with that pic you showed, where the drive chain is between both axles.👍

Thanks. Hopefully I’ll have another update soon! 👍

Maybe extended the rear of the frame rails past the axles. Make the rear axle a dummy floater axle. Possibly add a second sprocket to the main drive axle and run a chain to the second.

Thanks for the tip! I like it. I might try and modify the chain. It unfortunately is molded into the sprocket. Time to get creative! 👍

Very cool conversion. Hope to see this at NNL Hollister if you are planning to attend.

If I can get it finished by then 🤞 I’d love to make it, but I can’t make any guarantees yet

I was thinking that, once you get the placement of the axles down, have another set of chains going from the front axle to the rear one. Or, if you don't care if the second axle is driven, make it what is called a tag axle. A lot of three axle tractors have only one driven axle and the other is just there to help spread out the weight.

I thought about the chain from one axle to another, but the chain is molded into the sprocket. It might take some work, but I could probably get that figured out. The tag axle would be simple to do as well 🤔

Cool stuff, seen a couple of them built by others, but nothing like what you're doing. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Larry 👍 Let’s hope I can actually make something of it 🤞 😆

That kit looks like fun for sure.

Thanks! It really surprised me how different and easy/simplified it is at the same time. Well worth the effort!
