Bought this knife as soon as it hit the market, this makes my 9th bugout. Ive carried it since i bought it. I really like the aesthetics of it.. i like the color combination, the milling is really eye appealing.

I guess it makes sence to grab it, when it is your first Bugout, but when you have like 2-3 of them in different versions then I guess it's a stretch...? George, Los Angeles

That spyderco pm2 is only $198 three places I looked for the s45vn version so a full $90 cheaper (msrp is $298 for the pm2 but msrp is also $320 for the bugout but neither knife sells for those prices and that also wasn’t mentioned). 6061 is a standard aluminum. Nothing special about it. Now if they’d had stepped up to 7075 that may have been a talking point. Not dogging you at all because you’re honestly one of my favorite reviewers of this type of content but I think we can all agree, if we’re being honest l, this should be $225-$240 knife all day long and that’s being generous. What they’d lose in profitability dropping their prices they’d make up for in quantity of sales. But like I’ve said before. I don’t know their margins and like you mentioned people do pay these prices lol

Pm2 comes in g10 while this comes in aluminum ( still cheap but aluminum is better than g10). Also m390 is considered better than s45vn. Last but not least, this model just came out, I am sure you will find it way cheaper after some time like the pm2. Both spyderco and benchmade are overpriced as hell. I paid in Europe 260 euros for pm2 crucarta and this thing has lockstick 4 months now. You try to unlock it and you hear it squeezing it's awful. My bugout aluminum no problems only the blade a little bit offset. My point is they are similar companies, with similar price tags and different designs.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make. He stated in the video the pm2 regular was the same price or maybe even more than that bugout and it’s a full $90 cheaper. I do understand the differences and that the bugout has some higher end features than the standard pm2 which does justify a higher price tag but a full $90 higher I just don’t think it’s there. It just felt like trying to justify the bugouts high price saying it was comparable price to a lower end pm2 model and it’s just not. They’re size wise comparable but feature wise they’re very different

The listed HRC of M390 on this model is 58-61, which is very disappointing and not ideal at all. I'd rather buy a properly heat treated S30v over poorly treated M390.

Benchmade is overpriced for what it is. It still doesn’t make sense
