Microtech otfs did the same thing when owning them. A single speck of lint or dust and it’s unreliable. I have learned to enjoy great heat treated steels and lockbacks such as Spyderco

Had an infidel, same crap what happening over and over again, sold it got a microtech. And ever since never never looked back. Any slight problems and I put some rem oil in and it’s factory perfect. Ran the infidel for about 6 months and it was problems and problems. And it’s been 4 years + with the same microtech and nothing.

that's reassuring, I'm pretty new to collecting knives as a hobby, had the infidel for ages but got my first microtechs not too long ago and was really hoping they wouldn't eventually be this bad.

Make sure all lube is out of the knife and I will come close to a guarantee that this knife will function properly. Lube is a an absolute killer for these knives.

really seems like it. It was functioning better after just soap and water than after just lune. thx for your comment!

Okay, I have the same knife for 4+ years now. Yes, mine was also around $500.00 and way over priced. You can send it back and the will correct it for free if you live in a state that alouds PTF knifes. Mime does the same thing every several months. I have to take it apart, you will not believe all the crap that gets inside. This correct the problem until it starts do like yours. I hope that helps?

Thx for the comment! I know you can send it in, but yes I wouldn't have thought that much stuff gets in on its own, interesting. Do you have the same issue with other OTF's by any chance? because I used to EDC a very cheap otf for years (still sorta do) and its been abused and never had this issue, meanwhile my Infidel sits in a case and still developed this issue.

@@wishonafish Well, you are correct I think it is the interworking of the knife only. My other OTF knives, by the way MUCH less pricey do not have this problem. Open it up and see the insides, very interesting engineering.

OTF's are garbage. Waste of cash.

I like my other OTF's a lot personally, but I respect your opinion. None of my others have had any issues esp nowhere near as bad as this +$500 one lol. I have a $15 otf I've used for years and it's never had a single issue, so I'm really disappointed with the Infidel

@wishonafish I find them pretty much useless. They never have good lock-up and are finicky and usually need regular maintenance. I've owned 2 but they just ended up laying around because I never used them. I've handled a bunch though and have never been interested in another. They're fun to flick, but I wouldn't spend more than $50 on one.

@vorpalblades The ZBT I posted a vid of has perfect lockup and zero blade play, but I feel you. For utility, I prefer a simple flipper or fixed blade. Except my $15 otf, all my OTF I have more to admire and as fidget toys lol. I wouldn't by against daily carrying my Kershaw Livewire tho
