Finally thank you, I know it may be difficult but more videos like this would be phenomenal for the Survival class of knives.

This knife has been my EDC for about 12 years now. I have the orange, with the opposing bevel and blunt end. I spend a lot of time in a salt air/salt water environment, and the N680 steel is phenomenal for its corrosion resistance.I'm not a firefighter or EMT/paramedic, but this knife has SO MANY USES! It's literally Benchmades version of a Swiss Army knife!

I own two of them. I am a medic of 4 years. My only knock is no point on the blade. I re profiled mine with a point. In theory when exposing a wound you need to make the initial cut into fabric. This is were the factory shape of the blade fails. Other than it is a great knife. The n680 has held up better than my 154cm and s30v knives I carry in my ever rotating rotation.

Good video SE. Summerville looks like a pleasant little town. I grew up in a town smaller than that, Austell, Ga. Don't live there now but I have a lot of good friends on the city & county fire dept. You guys have a tougher job than we do. We're tearing down the place trying to get people OUT and you guys tear it up trying to get IN. My hats off to all firemen.

There are probably 10 great rescue knives out there and 10 ones that aren't going to hold up. And it turns out, having bought one of the ones that don't hold up, that I can't tell the difference by reading the advertising. Thanks for the field test!

I use mine ALLLLLL The time for cutting clothes off more so than seatbelts, and it works beautifully.. especially on Denim. There IS NOT a better knife for a fireman. I have Many including the Gerber Rescue and the triage smokes it. Also that blade steel is butter to sharpen and stays sharp for a LONG time! I love mine, it's def. a gem. Well done Benchmade, and Nice vid man, stay safe...

Had been using a Gerber Hinderer for work. After being clipped in my pocket for awhile, it was sometimes so difficult to open, I had to use two hands. I am around a lot of dust at work. Sometimes that would also make it bind up. So, 2 things that meant I might not be able to use it with one hand (no gloves). Splurged, got the Triage. Never hard to open with one hand. I still clean it out, but it doesn't hold as much dust as the Gerber. Also, this version is made out of a more corrosion resistant steel.

Edc I would go with the stat gear t3. It's under 40 bucks and I'm not a first responder so ill be lucky if I even use it once. Lets be real here - how many of you actually used your edc knife on MULTIPLE emergencies (survival, rescue, or defense). Like many others out there I feel it is my duty to carry and be prepared. But im realistic enough to not waste money on a tool that can stand up to all kinds of abuse THAT IT WILL NEVER SEE. Plus if you don't carry gloves don't bother carrying a glass breaker that isn't spring loaded. Now that I think of it, I might still buy this one to replace my trusty gerber lmf2 . As a combat knife knife not edc.

I'm always open to learning but one thing I don't need a lesson in is MY MONEY. For me 150+ dollars compared to 10 bucks is a no brainier. If im in an emergency situation and loose the benchmade triage, the "Oh crap" feeling kicks in. If I loose the smith and Wesson version or the Tac Force. I just grab another. That's just one example of the benefit. One thing I have learned about is inexpensive isn't always bad but I guess that's up for debate. How about a comparison?

Thanks, I like the way you presented this knife. I too am a firefighter in Western Nebraska and have been thinking about getting this blade to put in my gear. I used to use those clunky gloves until I bought some DRAGONFIRE gloves two years ago. They have way more dexterity as far structure gloves go. This year I bought their Extrication gloves and really like them too! I also use a 5.11 pouch in my right leg pocket to keep my stuff organized and think this knife would be a good fit for that. Thanks again for an awesome video. Been watching you for a while, but now will be a subscriber! Good Luck & Godspeed, Lt. Dano Martinez (aka: danofiremano)

I was disappointed out of the box with how sharp it was. Only ever been happy out of box with my spyderco manix2. OTHERWISE, I work construction but this is still my knife that is always on me. I still have my electrical specific knives for skinning wire, but for cutting the tape holding bundles of tape, or boxes this is what I go to. it enters my pocket in the morning and doesnt come out until I'm going to bed (even after changing out of work clothes straight to my other pants) regardless I am very happy with this know. Its a great EDC knife as well. I do find the N680 isn't holding an edge as well as my S30V blades would. Still a great knife.

You can get a tool that will do the same thing for a lot less or you can pay almost $200 for this. The Benchmade is of course the product of careful craftsmanship but it doesn't actually do rescue any better. Just depends on how much money you want to spend on your toys.
