I've got a MSI 1050TI with an I7 3770 in my spare rig that I let my guest use to game on. Hasn't let me down yet. Plays everything wonderfully in 1080 at any settings. I never monitor the FPS for any of the game's because I don't see the need to. Everything is always very smooth. It's still a great card in 2019.

I still use a 1050 ti, only reason i bought it was because in the summer of 2018 a RX 570 was around 250 USD, and I dont play metro exodus on ultra lmao, still a good little card and takes up no power at all!

Bigger ram doesn't always mean more performance. The gpu also has to be fast enough to make use of it.

About an year ago, I built my PC (I am from India) at that time RX570 was near ₹17-18000 while I bought my 1050ti for ₹13200 so there was no way comparing these two at that moment, now a days RX570 sells for ₹13400. I feel bad sometimes now, but on the bright side If I had pushed my pocket I would have been grieving now for buying RX570 too expensive. Although I was thinking for 1060 3GB for ₹18000 but it wasn't under budget. Anyway I love my 1050ti, still gives good experience in most games :)

The upgrade to the GTX 1050 ti really wont make much of a difference. Maybe wait till black Friday and get something like RX 580 or maybe even a 1660 super. (Depending which you can afford)

Could the reason the GTS 450 didn't work on the other system be they actually removed the PCIe 6-pin connector? From what I can see from TechPowerUp the card is supposed to have this and might not get enough power from the slot on the MB. The TDP is higher than the 1050 Ti (106 W vs 75 W).

I had a gts450 in the past, it was the 1gb vram version, maybe the 512mb vram rly fkd up the performance, because i remember having a lot better performance than that. It was a good gpu, specially for the price i got it

If you want a good but rather cheap Nvidia Card, just wait a few Weeks and get the soon to be released (End of nov. 2019) GTX 1650super, which according to Nvidia has TWICE the Speed of a 1050ti for around 150$ (estimate atm).

Nvidia changed the way thier drivers communicate with thier cards. Meaning all these fake cards will not work in a modern machine for one and will likely be a card that came out before Nvidia made that communication protocol change. Edit: the aforementioned change was made to combat these fake cards directly.

Not really related to this, but one day I saw something weird when I visited a vocational school. In their server / IT room I saw boxes of fake "GT 630" (which is actually uses G94 chip from 2008, explained by local tech youtuber). It's certainly not for gaming but they have IT and Multimedia class there. Somehow it's kinda sad because come on, it's a school and i'm sure they have more than enough money to buy better product such as actual nvidia cards from reputable brands, or AMD equivalent.

I did expect to get this , I still have a 1050ti 4gb LP laying around and is actually not that bad at all and for the small size of the card actually great. First gpu I had that worked fairly decent on 1080p , I used it in a dell optiplex 980 with I7 870 / 16gb / ssd and games where very playable while the system didnt cost a lot. Now using 1080ti 11gb in a complete new pc , it has more then enough power for everything.

Mobile versions of Desktop GPUs work about 10% less than than their desktop versions because of limited cooling on laptops and limited power delivery on laptops. Check too if your laptop is running dual channel ram.

GTS 450 is a lower end card from how many years ago? Lol. AliExpress I feel like the low prices is more from it being China/Asis based, where so many electronics and small parts are manufactored so they can get them bulk and unload them. In Shenzhen, from what i understand, single cards or parts are usually not the greatest price, but bulk stuff is? Idk, i always wonder how they got some of these low priced items lol

I still can't believe the GT 710 is so bad that is worse than Intel HD graphics and this fake graphics card performed better like wtf. Which is almost 10 yrs old . I didn't say it was a bad GPU. It just isn't available for a good price new anymore. (Which would make sense considering that it is a previous-gen GPU) If you get a good deal second hand, it's an awesome purchase.

The main problem is people are asking way too much money for gtx 1080 ti to which range from €500 to €1100 even that is a few years old already and I don't see the point why they set the price that high is just plain greedy
