As always, it is such a pleasure to collaborate with you, Tamar. I look forward to all the really cool things we have coming up. I always look forward to seeing what you come up with. Thanks for the kind words. Don’t forget you can add the little pin that comes with the router jig as a starter pin to the plate with a 1/4-20 tap. check out my latest video for more details.

Pony up for the screws for the side, man

@@terristroh3965nah. We include all the specialty hardware and screws for the t-track. All of which I buy in bulk at significantly cheaper than retail. Good screws are tough to get wholesale without buying hundreds of thousands at a time. With labor to pick and pack 36 screws I’d have to charge at least $10 more for the product. My employees tried it and we’re just getting poked and frustrated by the process. Screws are one of those personal preference things (Phillips, square, t drive etc) so I dont want to pay retail for screws and have to pass all the labor and marked up materials cost to the consumer. Figure we all have screws laying around our garage so you might as well save $10 and use the screws of your choice.

With you Jonathan, if there is anything a workshop should have in abundance, it's screws! Every trip to the hardware store, a feller ought to get screws and bolts, I think I have just about every size made up ti 5/8x 8" Lag bolts.

Love the video and the project. Just a thought, if you drill holes for the handles, you can just lift it off and use it. 24 seconds become 0.

Tamar, if you cut the screw down for the handles, you will have a lot less threads to screw on and off. You don't need that many. I do this all the time when making things that need to break down and assemble quickly. For the handles you just need about three threads catching and you'll be fine. Thread a nut on them first before cutting, it will help clean up the threads afterwards. Love your videos!

Maybe a way to convert a jig saw into a mobile band saw... Or a table mounted random orbit sander. Or a multi-tool table saw. There are tons of ways to waste time while achieving similar results as other larger more proficient tools. It's up to us humans to decide where to draw the line. My palm router will be staying in my palm. I feel a router table should contain a 2.25-3.25hp router for proficiency.

Fantastic video Tamar. Jonathan makes some incredible pieces and as you mentioned, they are well thought out. What I really liked about this design is the open front. It may seem like a little detail, but having full access to my router for adjusting height or quick changing bits, really is an advantage and time saver. Also, the extra room inside the box that allows for my vacuum hose to connect to my routers dust collector (I have the same set you as you do) is exciting. Even with my full sized 3 HP router table, my dust collection doesn't work that well, so I see myself using this small job router table a lot more. Thank you for doing these videos. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching your newest projects.

LOL! Funny energy in this one. I HIGHLY recommend you seal all the raw edges of the table top. In my experience, the cut edges of particle board and MDF will swell and warp from moisture, and since the middle is cut out to accept the template, it will also warp unevenly and could eventually make the table not very flat. Paint the template cut out area to seal it up, and hopefully it won't amount to much with such a small table top. I could see a lot this being really useful for some carpenters on job sites.

Your shop looks great! Here's a great story. Been helping a scout with a woodworking project. Lots and lots of funky angles and lots of Dominos. I told the scout that I never got out of my head how you stated in a video that you use make the loose cuts on both ends of the domino just in case. Ironically, I caved on one complicated joint - I did the same and am glad I did!

I got the jig + table bundle from KM tools about 2 weeks ago! Absolutely Love it!! Fits my Makita 18V perfect. Took me a bit longer to assemble since I didn’t watch the video before and assemble my needed supplies like Tamar… (I wouldnt call that cheating, just a bit more OCD…) I would pause the video and gather tools as I went. But I was in no hurry and had a couple cups of coffee. I didn’t use any superglue. I sanded with 220 and put a finish of oil/poly/spirits on and also an included sticker. The next day I had to round off slats for a good size project. Those pieces were 3’ and I did both sides of about 60 of them… Apart from changing batteries, I didn’t have to make any adjustments AT ALL and the quality on the last one was just as good as the first. I used a shop vac for dust collection behind the fence like Tamar did and secured the hose with a bungee. I also mounted a strong magnet to the inside of the box which keeps my router wrench handy. I store my earplugs around the handle cutout. I am considering putting some ruler tape on the tracks (0 on each track lined up with the center of the bit)… but a ruler works well for now. I’m a big fan of Tamar and JKM, and this collaboration is AWESOME!!! Thank you both and keep on trucking.

@@3x3CustomTamar oh no! I designed my own router table to fit on one of those famous fliptop tables (since I'm a bit space limited). I added flip up "wings" giving me another foot of table space on either side. I also cut a metal yard stick in half, then glued them into a groove on either side of the router--this way i have TWO reference points to line up the back wall. Happy to send pix if there's a way to do that.

I have the 6-in-1 Trim Router Jig and I like it very much. I also have a dedicated router mounted to a router table so I personally don't need this now. However, I could have used this years ago when my shop was a lot smaller (and so was my budget). This looks like a solid design and a great overall table for people with limited space and for people routing smaller things (esp. limited space). I especially like the fact that this table was designed to match an existing product rather than forcing people to buy something new. All around three thumbs up on this.

I wouldn't call a palm router in a router table more useful than one not in a router table. In fact I think the opposite may be true. Palm routers are for putting on edge details. They don't have the power for proficiency in a table on hardwoods. The only way my palm routers getting inverted is if I'm getting inverted with it! My 3 routers are a makita palm router, festool 1400 plunge, and my dad's 2.25hp bosch (in the table) all plug in, all variable speed. I want a 3.25hp router for my table. Not ready to jump yet. Triton has gone downhill, rockler won't carry thier new model routers... Festool is $1,000 so I'm waiting. hoping bosch makes a 3.25hp model again soon, or an update from Milwuakee, or I'm buying a makita.
@MarioG2912
@MarioG2912 3 ай бұрын
Umm, thanks...I guess. I will keep all of that in mind next time I am woodworking in an inverted position. Until then, I 'stand' by what I wrote. My shop is small and will never need a 3hp anything, even for hardwoods. By the way, the tool I referred to being useful was Tamar's jig, not the router. Her jig has been very useful to me, especially while free hand routing signs for relief carving. The addition of a small table to do additional tasks makes it 'even more useful', in addition to my two full size router tables with full size routers. Thank you for your opinion, tho.@@brandonhoffman4712

Tamar, this is a great new product. I have wanted a small router table for my small shop for some time, but small tables usually lack functionality and large ones are just too big for my shop. This one seems to hit all the checkboxes. Patrick Sullivan posted a video for his small router table build a couple years ago-and looks quite similar to this one, btw-which I wanted to build but just haven’t gotten around to. The JKM kit appears to be a way for me to fast-track the process. I just ordered the bundle kit from JKM. Thanks for posting this!

I watched Jonathon's video before yours, only because his came out a couple of days ago. I'm thinking that this would be perfect to be mounted into a work bench as a main router table, for those of us who don't have a large, stand alone router table, or are constrained by space issue in our shops. To that point, some beefy corner blocks with threaded inserts would be handy for holding it in place until such time as you need to move it to an outdoor location or to take it into the house to do some work in there. I do realize that it wouldn't be the same as a beefy 3 1/2 hp router, in a dedicated router table, but for many of us it would be perfect for long runs of round overs and chamfers. I love the fact that both of your logos are laser engraved on the fence portions. Looking forward to whatever the next collaboration brings to the world. Keep up the great work and let's see how many times this gets used in upcoming projects.

I would recommend buying a router table insert and a router insert routing template. Then you can router in your router table into any workbench you make. Placing a router table into a work table feels like tableception. The advantages with this setup, is it will work with any router, and any router lift, should you want one down the road. There won't be a need to re-engineer your bench! All the stuff needed is available @ rockler woodworking or probably woodcraft as well.

My current plan is to figure out a way to attach it to a mobile cart so I can get some extra storage in my small garage, which doesn't have a lot of great workspace to clamp this down on. I'm really excited to check out the 6-1 jig as well! Thanks!

My thoughts are, since I already have your 6 in 1 jig, I went and immediately checked the price on Jonathan's kit and went and ordered it. And since I'm tired of having to use my Dewalt jobsite table saw to cut dado's and mortises, and since I have a router with a few bits and a need to make a few drawers and other accessories, this will be crazy useful to me in the near future! Brilliant.

Nice job on the design of both products. I ended up having to use a 1/2" shank bit on a project and I just cut a piece of plexi to the same dimensions as your 6 in one jig. Then I drilled holes for the router base. In less than 10 minutes I have a 2nd router that fits in the router table. It's kind of handy because Instead of changing bits and having to realign everything I just pop the routers in and out of the table. It was very handy for my sliding dovetails. The initial channel with the straight bit on one router, pop that router out, run the dovetail with the 2nd router. It's actually quicker than the bit change.

@TheMixitman my bad didn't know you weren't from the states. I would imagine any modern civilized nation has a governing body over construction standards for human saftey similar to OSHA. And yes I am a fan of OSHA as are most Americans that work in construction. They are keeping us from reaching an early grave like so many have that came before us. The only poster I have is one of you bathing in paint thinner breathing in methelated spirits straight from the can while angle grinding without any form of PPE. There you are on my wall with a look of confusion with a caption that reads (PPE I play with my PPE everynight!)

Since you’re in the Festool ecosystem: There’s a company called ToolCurve that makes adapters that will do the twist lock on the Festool hose and then mate directly to the Dewalt dust shroud. Their products and customer service are both exceptional!

I've been using my Makita 18V trim router with your 6-in-1 jig with a router table since some time last year. I left a comment on Jonathan's video saying his design is so much better than the router table I made, but the one thing mine does that his doesn't is that it allows me to go from handheld to router table in under 5 seconds. Cos unlike his, in which you need to unscrew the handles, then screw them back on from the bottom, with mine, the jig stays on all the time and is just slotted from the top of the router table. The flip side of that, of course, is that there's nothing but gravity holding the jig and router down. So far that's been fine, possibly cos of the extra weight of the 5Ah battery. I have to add that I discovered another use for your 6-in-1 router jig two days ago - as part of a router sled setup (using two of the extension feet, the two extension arms, four bolts and four knobs). I shot a short clip of that, but haven't edited it. When I post it on Instagram, I'll tag you.

I was wondering the same thing about whether it was even necessary to screw the top down since you're going to be pushing down on it anyway with the piece that you're routing.

very nicd little router table but (of course) but perhaps I am missing something here. I went to the web site to check out the cost and I noticed there is a rather large opening for the baseplate a yet no baseplate is included. I assume you created this for your specialized baseplate that costs an additional $70.00 that I am no interested in. So what is the size of that opening or do you offer a top that I could router out my own opening for my routers baseplate. Thanks for a fine video.

Bought your 6 in one router jig and love it. Also bought one as a gift & that person loves it. However I saw Johnathan’s video back in August & bought the router stand. Opened the box & all the top plate & parts made of partial board were broken in half. It looks like it was put in the bubble wrap & placed in box that way. Have emailed Johnathan 4 times and no response from him,except mention his email support@. So when I have time guess I’ll remake those particular boards out of real wood myself. Love your videos 😊but poor support from Johnathan Katz.

My Rockler portable table still meets my trim-router needs. However as I have your very well designed/made 6-in-1 jig most always attached to my Makita 18V router anyway, and this is such a well made table kit (as all your cooperative endeavors) I know I won't be able to resist much longer getting one. ;-)

I finally took your always valued advice@@3x3CustomTamar and ordered the KM unit and will similarly dedicate to 1/4" bit tasks, leaving 1/2" to my [now cold] garage full size router table. I've already repurposed my crafted granddaughter's LEGO table that recently got outgrown-returned into a nice base for same (just happens to perfectly accommodate once I raised it 2-1/2"). The new KM kit will arrive Saturday but I have a full outside the shop schedule. However thanks to your walk-thru I'll make sure I at least pull out and glue up the first couple pieces so I'm ready to go when I have more time. 😉
