I’m just starting out in woodworking, and have a very small shop. This seems like it would be a great solution for all those times I wish I had a router table. I think you’ve hit the sweet spot in this design. There’s a lot of videos with very complicated designs and a lot that are basically a board with a hole clamped to a bench. This one checks all the boxes.

Ah man! this would be perfect. I have a small shop, and don't even have a vise to mount my trim router. I usually just (strategically/puckeringly) clamp it to end of my outfeed table. Very well thought out and designed Mr. Morsels! and, as always, a great video to go along with it.

Extremely well thought out design. I’m a custom stair builder and am constantly shaping different nosing profiles. Working in clients homes the router is definitely the biggest culprit for dust production. The built in dust collection in such a compact and light weight design would be a godsend for on site finish carpentry. Thanks for sharing your always informative and always entertaining builds. Hi Jerry!
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Love hearing from guys in the trades! And dust collection could be further improved by fully enclosing the base. It would make breaking it down more of a process, but so is vacuuming up dust and chips from one end of the house to the other 😜😂

Such a functional, quality build! Over the summer, I built a quick, folding router table to get some projects done for my kids. I ended up clamping a temporary fence in place to get the job done, with the plan to upgrade the portable router table over time to include t-track, dust collection and a drop-in slot for an acrylic base. Watching your video gave me a ton of inspiration to rebuild it as the folding design I used is not as stable as I'd like it to be. I didn't really think it could be collapsible AND stable but this setup is great! Now to find some time to get working on it...

The use of threaded inserts is really the best thing about this idea, I’m always hesitant to build things like this because, well, jigs add up and get in the way 😂 being able to take it apart is amazing! Also credit for actually clamping the router, I usually just slap the biggest battery on it that I can find and assume it’s good enough to hold. Great table plans.
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Zack! I think the weight of the router and a big battery is more than enough to hold it in place. That's another reason I made the base plate square...so it wouldn't be able to spin.

When I install T-track, I use epoxy like you did in this video, but I sand the underside of the T-track with 80 grit. You don't have to go crazy sanding, just enough to remove the color of the T-track. This will give the epoxy something to bite into and make a rock solid bond.

New to woodworking and that perfect cause for trim i am having trouble getting clean cuts with my makita router for thin trim. So i tried doing the trim on thick stock and then cutting off the excess with circular saw. It worked for the base boards but no so well for picture frames. When i do one side it comes out perfect . But when flip over i have to move the clamp to finish the cut and you always can see where i restart the router in the piece.

What a perfect build at a perfect time. I share my garage workshop with my wife's car so smaller yet very functional is much better. I will be getting plans for this, thanks!

such a great idea to make trim routers more flexible in use. Love the ability to break down and store it more compactly as well, though I suspect it would stay assembled all the time in my shop.

I love your attitude towards woodworking you have inspired me in diferente ways, starting with a 1 car garage and few tools , but the most important is to create anything without fear , for a starter this would be a nice addition to his collection well made and many years to enjoy, good luck to everyone 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼

I stayed up late tonight to watch your video or the DIY Router Table. It's really useful for the smaller routers. It's a great project. I like that I can disassemble it and take it with me to my cabin in Big Bear. Thanks for the effort and the creativity. John

I like the knobs and threaded inserts rather than just knocking apart the table. It took a little more work and materials but its simplicity and likely ease of use will make it worth it. Also good to see J & L again. I think I can almost tell them apart now.

Thanks Terri! Nice to hear from you! And now that Jerry has shed a few pounds, I actually have a hard time telling them apart sometimes 😹

Very awesome Keith. I've now gotten to the point where I have to have things that can be broken down and put away because of the lack of room. Will have to take a look at your plans!

I absolutely LOVE the knockdown design! I recently threw my old table out because it had a sag in it and I have yet to build a replacement. This would be perfect in my tiny shop!
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Nice!! Yeah, that sag is a real drag with a flimsy top and a heavy router. Been there man!
@CheveeDodd3 жыл бұрын
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking it was 3/4 plywood! But it wasn't Baltic birch and it probably had the sag to begin with. I threw it together real quick one weekend when I needed it. 😭

Amazing router table. I was thinking of building one for the coffee table I am building for my family. Your focus on the small details and thoroughness throughout the build is very commendable. Never seen the blue valcomat before, looks awesome. Again, the level of detail and customization in each section of the table is something I wish to attain in my future projects. Keep up the great work and quality videos.

Loved the video. I used to put myrouter in the vice too until it fell out one day while it was running and I stuck two fingers in it trying to catch it. Really nice build. Looks like one you would buy at the store

Yikes!! That's scary man! And that's exactly why I built this table...before my luck ran out and something bad happened. Hope you healed up without any permanent damage!
