Hey Woodworking Enthusiasts! 👋 Welcome to VanIsle Studio! In this video, I'm embarking on a woodworking journey, to enhance my table saw workbench. This time, I'm integrating a flip top miter saw station.
🛠️ Project Overview: I'll guide you through the step-by-step process of dismantling my current workbench, housing the Dewalt 7491RS Table Saw, and modifying it to accommodate both the table saw and the miter saw (Festool Kapex KS 120 REB Sliding Compound Miter Saw). The rotating miter saw shelf design allows you to optimize space and functionality in your workshop.
📜 Woodworking Plans: Just like before, detailed plans for this workbench are available on my Etsy shop. These comprehensive plans, totaling 98 pages, provide a thorough guide for crafting this dual-tool workbench, ensuring your woodworking projects reach new heights. Here is the link if you are interested:
IMPERIAL & METRIC WOODWORKING PLAN - vanislestudiostore.etsy.com
There are two versions of the Imperial plan.
One version of the plan that utilizes regular 2X4's (3 1/2 inches X 1 1/2 inches) that are easily purchased at stores like home depot.
And another version of the plan that utilizes rough cut dimensional lumber, that was planned to a final thickness of 3 5/8 inch X 1 13/16 inch.
👀 What's Next? Whether you're a seasoned woodworker or just starting, this video is packed with tips, tricks, and the satisfaction of creating a versatile and efficient work environment, and just some plain old fun messing around in the shop with a camera and some tools :)

In the "middle" of the Workbench build (the plans are truly amazing)... but I'm modifying it heavily to incorporate a planer and jointer and two sections of the table top will be removable (the jointer and planer are on jacks... jointer is on a motorcycle lift and planer is on scissor jack)... the length I'm extending to 11'4" and to compensate for the added weight I'm using 2x6 instead of 2x4 but your plans are pretty darn easy to modify because they are so freaking good to begin with. I say all that so that if someone actually reads this they will know that they should not hesitated for an instant to purchase your plans. THANK YOU!!! for the tremendous amount of work you did on them.

You are missing one thing -- "backboards" for the miter saw -- that is, something in-plane with the miter saw fences, so stuff stays in-line with them more accurately. Obviously, they need to be removable, so... something with pegs that goes down into it -- probably metal dowels and suitable sleeves for exact positioning. Perhaps some 2060, 4060, 2080, or 4080 Aluminum T-track, rather than wood, to prevent warping and temp changes. And the benefit is, you can get or rig some stop mechanisms and the like that use the t-track. Looks great, though. Also, how to fix it down, so it can't lift up -- maybe some steel washers on the underside, with some in-table Mag Switches, or, alternately, you might be able to rig up your own -- look into how magswitches work, you CAN make your own.
@vanislestudio
@vanislestudio Күн бұрын
Hey Nick, I just looked up the MagSwitches! Did not know they were even a thing and thanks for putting me onto those and for some of the great ideas for the backboards for the miter saw! You have some good thoughts there and I appreciate you sharing them with me, gives me food for thought mate and greatly appreciated. All the best to you :)

Sure was glad to see the pencil sharpener is still around. I also hope that you have more blue pencils that one is getting short. I think it is fare to say you have the best editing skills of any woodworking KZbin videos. Makes me wonder if you do it professionally? Other than all of that very skilled and dedicated to perfecting projects you work on. Glad dad was there to help you out a bit. Thanks for sharing

Hi jjamontan, I enjoyed reading your comment, especially regarding my dad, without him or my mom, there's no me. So thanks so much for checking out my video and posting your comment. It means a lot to me and I'm happy you enjoyed it! Oh, btw, I'm by no means a professional regarding the editing, but cool you wondered about it :) Thanks again jjamontan! Cheers Paul

Great project! I like your approach! Finally a realistic video! ... but the video tops the project in my opinion! Imaginative, creative, interesting, funny, ... simply very professional and certainly very time-consuming! Thanks for that! I'm looking forward to more of this! Kind regards from Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany 🙂Kuno

Quick trick to avoid the tear-out problem with the router: Score the piece at the point where the cut ends. If it's a deep cut and you want more confidence, score it a second time, more deeply, just a little bit inside the cut.

Great build -- subscribed! A suggestion for the curved section on the braces @8:15: instead of routing freehand on your finished pieces, consider making a template out of 1/2in. MDF first. If you're not happy with it you can start again without wasting your finished braces, and you'll get much more consistent profiles on both pieces.
