"oh, puddles", "oh, mud". It's February, Royal. Those of us who don't usually go to NZ are used to it. Bloody sunshine Commando ;-) Ha ha ha!

I rode at Hawley trails a lot in my mid teens. Met quite a few pro riders including gilly. He was an inspiration and a true gent. Mtb and bmx pros are the role models and influences kids like me needed. Keep on keeping on boys. Respect.

Never thought i'd see Swinley through your eyes first... i was meant to go there last year but had to duck out due to injury. now it's on my 2020 to do list. I'll be studying this video for weeks to get the Deaks line :)

Deaks, you should give Tunnel Hill a try with a local guide. Not far from Swinley and lots of hidden jumps, gaps, drops and trails 👌

I’ve seen it and it looks sick but the only way your getting in is by paying for a whole year upfront
@BenDeakinMTB4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that is correct, how ever you do get your monies worth with the coaching sessions that they provide, Its a way of managing risk which was put by the Swinley estate but those guys can obviously give you more information, There is more stuff to ride outside of the Skills area though. 😜
@bfbjock4 жыл бұрын
It’s a monthly subscription so no need to pay a year upfront at all. Should have given me a shout Ben, just round the corner!
@tyler_bt33264 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you did used to be able to just run it on days when it was “closed” not really anyone to stop you. It was a stupid idea though and people kept underestimating the trails, injuring themselves and now they’re blocked off by those metal bars when not in use. Moral of the story; ride within your limits xD

Just a heads up, for the Progression area (Bike park), there is a year fee you have to pay to access it, it's tiered depending on the amount you ride there. All on the website.

It’s not the size of the jump it’s the run in for the 40 footer doesn’t work as you can’t get the speed, Tom who I followed in has tried a number of times and that’s a guy who does the Dark fest 90 foot jump. 🤷♂️

It really annoys me when people take the piss out of beginners. We were all there once. I would have thought that a sponsored rider would at least pretend to be a better ambassador for the sport. It's the same when pros turn up to little races and complain about catching people in practice. It's just uncool (in the kindest of words).
@BenDeakinMTB4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Just to make it clear, which I guess I didn’t, I was a former Royal Marine Commando and the Gurkhas are a Nepalese Natives recruited for the British Army and it was an in house joke not to be taken seriously for anyone in the forces as the Gurkha Regiment are renowned for being fearless individuals that will give anything a go, No offence intended!
@AdamHickman784 жыл бұрын
I think it is clear to see Paul, especially if you have been watching Ben for a while that there is nothing but respect for the Gurkhas and also MTB riders of all skill levels. It's healthy for a bit of banter, nothing nasty at all.
