I recommend trying a soft and hard bushing combo. One hard on the bottom and a soft one at the top. The hard will keep you stable on tricks and going fast while the soft will help you carve and turn when needed. Love the reviews keep it up :)

Late reply, but thanks man. I wrote these off a while ago as I'm a big boy who likes loose trucks (especially on a longboard front) - I had shredded Hardcore blues after only a few seshes. Still, they were better than any Indy bushings I had tried, in similar duros. Gonna get some Hardcore blacks and put my ole Indy forged titaniums to use again!

The sound comes from the plastic top of the roadside bushing rubbing against the skinny black washer that was supplied with the bushings. All you have to do is rub wax on both of the contact surfaces of those pieces. I just figured that out. Took a bright flashlight and stared at those pieces while using my hands to depress either side of the truck, and I could see them slip against each other in a way that matchs the sound of the creaking. My trucks are silent now. Riptide pivot cups sure are sweet, in my opinion. Skate or die; scooters suck.

I have just recently purchased bones bushings for my indys as I seem to keep fracturing the Indy bushings regardless of stiffness in a very short period of time. Although it has only been a couple of weeks, I have been super impressed with how they feel, the responsiveness and their durability thus far.

I rode the softs and they fell apart on me. The inserts separated from the bushing. To their credit skate one replaced them promptly and even gave me mediums when I requested them instead of the softs. I put the mediums in all my trucks and have zero issues. Imo an improvement over the junk bushings that come stock on most trucks
@paulrevere29283 жыл бұрын
Powell Hardcore Bushings are the best. I have been riding them since they came out about 15 years ago! I use an Indy bottom bushing on the top on my rear truck for stability and normal setup in the front and as loose as I can handle it for carving bowls and hard turns etc.
@omgitsrickatier6 жыл бұрын
I grate some wax with a cheese grater and put the wax dust between all the contact points of the bushings and in the pivot cup. This was 6 months ago. Not a sound yet. Also it makes the trucks a little more loose so you can tighten the bolt down more.

Thanks Richard. I finally did that a while ago and it has been much better.

nice! they come with a lil washer now(washers are for relieving stress) i never ran metal washers with mine in the past which would promote their degeneration. Even that little bit they give now will prolong the life of these bushings. Trust me they break in people.......i did what he thought in 1 week......got the softs and boy were they......in 1 month depending on the amount of skating. they will soften up and the urethane and retainer will adapt to your riding style and soften up....only problem is specific to the med urethane it keeps getting softer in 1m from new softer, 3m even softer 6m softer.....so they gradually get softer after 6m range they are over progressing into softness but just letting buyers know from 1 week-1month they already change drastically.....so if you favor how thye feel in that 1m window....id highly suggest going for the bones hards bc after being broken in or even into 6+months of use they wind up feeling like brand new or the 1wk-1month range bones meds......just saying and if were talking indys strictly they now make their own aftermarket bushings, (conicals) mimic the bones hardcores from a riding style aesthetic. While not diminishing. 92a(med hard) feel like bones med(broken in) and the 94a(hards) feel like the bones hards if they never get soft over time. I happen to favor the bones meds brand new feeling so i run a combo of 92a under my nut, and 94a under my hanger. Its also nice bc i get to use a washer for consistency vs the bones where at any given time 1 plastic retainer will have its lip crack from the nut......or the urethane from the bushing gets separated from the plastic retainer so much that there is a lack of contingency with the bushings or functionality which is why i only use them for my thunders now and stick with indy conicals with my indys.

Looks like a beautiful place to skate. My one gripe about Bones bushings is that the bottom bushing blows out in less than six months, usually less. To try to rectify that problem got a set of hards to use the hard ones on the bottom and medium on top. The hard was very difficult to skate at first but feel good now that they are broken in. Mediums feel good day one, but hards need to be broken in in my experience. My current bushing setup is still going well, I'm hoping that the hard on bottom lasts longer for me. On an older pair of trucks I probably would have swapped out the pivot cups too, they are only a few bucks usually. Probably not necessary but I have become very particular about my setup as time goes on. I'm almost 30 and having everything right on my setup is necessary, skateboarding is one of the few things I get enjoyment out of sometimes so I don't want to deal with nonsense like loose hardware, etc. Your video about thunders vs indies and wheel bases has got me thinking now. I currently have thunders but if indies would be better for the decks I ride that could be worth investigating. I wish all retailers had wheelbase dimensions posted on deck descriptions as well as a picture of the side of the deck to be able to see the concavity. One other important measurement is nose and tail length; I bought a deck a year or two back that the nose was shorter than the tail and unless you're skating a shaped deck that is not ideal. I skate 8.75 and 8.8 decks so I buy online and sometimes there are nasty surprises like that when it arrives. Also, pants should have pocket depth/size dimensions listed as well to make sure phones will fit comfortably inside the front pockets.

You sound as fussy as me! 😃 I also have to have everything just right. It has definitely gotten worse as I have aged. With less time to skate and our aged bodies already impeding us I agree there is no time to lose dealing with products that don't suit your needs. On the topic of these bushings, I only skated them for a couple of weeks. Not long enough for a time test. I have been seeing a few complaints in the comments lately.

I have had a lot of problems with bones bushings in the past. The hard ones are too hard and make your bolt fall off, the mediums are good for I would say 3 months before the plastic part goes into the bushing and messes it up and the soft just straight CRACK in half and the bushing breaks and it inoperable. Idk if I'm the only person this has happened to, but I gave them second and third chances

Happen to a friend ofmine too using the Soft Bones Hardcore Bushings too, he too was using Independent Stage 11 trucks, Grant it, the bushing felt awesome the first few sessions but they broke(tore) too fast and early, makes me wonder if these bushing even fit Independent Stage 11 trucks. I think these are great bushings, as are most things made by Powell. George Powell (along with Paul Schmidt) are some serious skateboard engineers when it comes to product and the things they create. Bones bushings along with Thunder bushings are really the only ones that have what construed as good and noticeable "rebound" the moving of the truck to it's original position after turning. I ride Independent trucks and have to switch out those bushings every time, they are the worst and don't last.

I weight 210lbs if I don't put hard bushing in I would be flying all the time. I do like my trucks a little bit tight but not to tight. So wen I turn I still have my maximum rotation. But I've seen people with like 10 to 20 lbs less weighing then me. And not being able to turn on hard ones. So I would reckon to either try different bushing skate it a couple days. Then either slowely go up or down in duro. And stick with that forever.

a big no no for bones bushing. the mediums take as much time to break in as an actual pair of trucks, and the fact that it's two pieces for a part of the bushing (i.e. the bushing is the white rubber part plus a yellow ring on top (blue for soft and blac for hard)) makes it crack after a while. the soft ones lasted me 1 session at a manny spot in Montreal. Medium lasted maybe half a year. I ride indys so now i just buy the indy bushings its one piece so no random cracking between mating parts

I used pneumatic tool oil for nail guns. I am not sure how that will effect the plastic in the long run though. Someone else recommended wax shavings in the pivot cup which would be more neutral but you have to take the truck apart to do that.

So check this out- Been using bones bushings (hard and medium) for a while, but like you say here, they're really loud and squeaky. Seems like it just gets worse, and it was starting to bother me, so I decided today to disassemble the trucks and put some paraffin (gulf) wax on everything that touches the bushings. Dropped some shavings in the pivot cups, and rubbed the wax onto the tops and bottoms of the bushings, and everywhere they touch the trucks (the top of the baseplate, underside of the top washer and both sides of the flange that the bushings sandwich). Almost silent now. Only got to ride for about 20 minutes, so I can't say how long term a fix it is, (or if on a hot day in the car I'll end up with a waxy mess) but it definitely made a huge difference.

Awesome! I guess just don't put it down trucks first. Also probably most of it will wear off except in the important nooks and crannys. Come to think of it there is probably always a fair amount of wax on my board and trucks just from ledges anyway.

Did anyone find that using the little washers made a difference?
@_Maxten3 жыл бұрын
no. its mainly for spacing it out to stay flush with the axles imo. on my venture highs i use a stock bottom washer and then i dont even use the washer for the top. you have to do that for thunders too to make em fit

Which bones bushings are good loose or medium
@Cauldronofbats6663 жыл бұрын
i ride the hard ones personally. they have a black top. i’ve had my trucks really loose and pretty tight and i like them for both styles of skating.

What oil do you use in the pivot cups for sqwauking
@bendegros6 жыл бұрын
I used pneumatic tool oil. I have it for nail guns. It worked well temporarily but didn't last. I have also done the wax shaving deal. I actually want to dip the pivot part of the hanger in melted wax and put them back together.
@thomashenshaw87986 жыл бұрын
Ben Degros good idea. That sqwauking gets wild sometimes
@bendegros6 жыл бұрын
Yup. I've ruined a few videos not doing that. And then posted them anyway!!

Will these fit in the new venture hi?
@soydave19883 жыл бұрын
I've heard yes, but you may need to sand the top bushing down so it fits better. A belt sander or something should do the trick

Did the Bones bushings help with das pinch?
@bendegros7 жыл бұрын
Totally. The pinch is so hot right now!
@saulorocha3755 Жыл бұрын
Wax the bushings to stop the squeaking. Also stay away from these if want really tight trucks, I mean REALLY TIGHT, Bones are no good for that (specially to freestyle). Use Thunder bushings, they have a huge variety of bushings hardness types.
