According to Spitfire’s own specs, Tablets have nearly the same riding surface width as Conical Fulls of the same diameter. However, the Tablets’ total width is several millimeters narrower than Conical Fulls. For example, comparing both at 53mm diameter, CF’s are 3.5mm wider than Tablets yet they only have 0.5mm wider riding surface. That seems like 3mm of extra “unused” width and urethane weight, but without much benefit in terms of grip/stability. That is like carrying extra body fat weight, which (unlike lean muscle weight) does nothing to aid performance. So, Tablets are a more efficient shape based purely on surface width (grip) to weight ratio. That appeals to me from a design standpoint, whether or not I can actually feel the difference. I would be interested to know the actual weight difference of that “unused” 3mm of urethane width. Then multiply X 4 wheels. Then consider the true swing weight difference that represents. Can you actually feel it? I don’t know, but if you are the kind of person (I am) who buys into trucks with titanium axles and hollow kingpins just to shave a few ounces of weight, then this logic may resonate with you. OTOH, people may prefer wider wheels or the shape of CFs for reasons other than just the riding surface width, so plenty of counter arguments apply.
@Skateboardin12783 жыл бұрын
I actually ride both wheels right now, the 53mm 101a tablets on one setup and 52mm 101a conical fulls on the other. They have exactly the same riding surface. I'd say the tablets are for sure a more techy wheel than the fulls. But I personally ride the conical fulls with indy standards and the tablets with hollow standards, so there's 30g weight difference on each truck. I actually want to swap the wheels to find out if it'll make a noticeable difference. All in all, the spitfire tablets are imo the best overall wheel there is on the market. They are pretty narrow which is great for more tech stuff but they still have a really wide riding surface which gives you that wide wheel stability. I love them. And the conical fulls are just really cool looking wheels which definitely work for the more techy stuff almost just as good.

Interesting comparison of lean body muscles & extra body fat 😎 I've 78a Snot Wheels Co. 63mm (name of the model of wheel is Big Softies) and technically it's a tablet wheel though it's destined for cruiser boards which I use these on but I'm hoping to get some Spitfire F4 58mm 97a tablet type wheels to put on my standard 31" board 🛹 because my Snot Wheels Big Softies (name of the model of Snot Wheels Co. wheels I have mentioned) have now got me convinced and tablets became my favorites.

I'm so wanting to learn how to skate! I'm almost 43 and only tried skateboarding when I was about 12. I really only new how to ride on flat ground and didn't know how to Ollie still want to learn! You make this look super easy but I'd definitely need full gear and might break my neck on a drop in. But I am going to take it slow and easy! Now I just gotta get a complete board. Been thinking of a old tony hawk 9.75 or a 8.35 board just to get a better foot locations until I get good on flat ground again lol
@TysonHook-22-4 жыл бұрын
Yes when starting out at an older age a big board and big softer wheels will be much more forgiving... if you plan on doing tricks eventually id suggest staying 9" or under which will make transitioning to smaller boards much easier, if you choose to do so. for tricks you usual want 99a or harder wheels but starting out re-learning your balance a softer 78-90a wheel would be much easy on your joints and muscles until you built back your skateboard muscles/balance.

I got these wheels based on your review, and I could not be happier. I got the 51mm cuz i ride low trucks, and I also got the 99a because I don't really revert out of tricks, and the 99a's slide fine on nose and tailslides for me. If anyone is on the fence about these I would HIGHLY recommend them. I was skating mini logo's before i got this, and the difference is insane.

@Austinn8014 жыл бұрын
@@辌 I mean it all comes down to personal preference. The classics are going to be wider all around, but will have a smaller area that comes into contact with the pavement, and a rounded edge. While the tablets are kinda just straight cut, I believe the tables are also lighter. I am really digging the tablets right now, so that would be my recommendation. They are kinda like a small lightweight lock in. Here is a link to a chart that gives you all the dimensions of all the spitfire wheel shapes. I'm not suggesting to risk those bad boys, but flat spots are most reliably created when you hit a twig/rock/nut that locks your wheel and go ass over tit. It scrapes the same area of wheel perfectly for a good foot or two with your full mass/momentum bearing down on it.

Thanks Ben for another great review. Can you please review the Bones v3 52mm wheels. They're my favorite wheels. I would love know what you think and how you feel about them. If you want me to send you a set of them, I will just let me know.

They used to be my favourite wheel. If spitfire made the same shape in Formula Four they might be my go to wheel.
