Crazy how they probably resented bender at this point but still didn’t rat on him. One of the first instances where’s there’s an unspoken form of companionship amongst the teens. Ik there’s no such thing as perfection but this movie fills my definition of perfection in terms of film.

I don't think he respected Vernon at all nor did the other students. He probably didn't mind detention or whoever was there on Saturdays because it was probably better sometimes than being at home. I know it's just a movie but I'd assume Vernon didn't have to work all day Saturday detention every single week. If he did I'd ask for a raise. Lol

@@STONESGAM Exactly. My friend works in a school system and says kids that act out a lot actually hope to get detention because their home situation is so bad that they'd rather be at school. Pretty sad.

Vernon was acting like Mike Brady in the Brady Bunch episode, "Greg Gets Grounded" where Greg is banned from driving for a week after he almost has an accident. Mike would threaten to increase Greg's punishment every time Greg talked back. Vernon was doing the same thing with Bender here.
